West Brom vs. Arsenal: Alan Irvine and Arsene Wenger Post-Match Reaction
A 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion in Saturday's early kickoff gave Arsenal their first Premier League win since November 1, building on the club's midweek Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.
With pressure mounting on Arsene Wenger's shoulders, the Frenchman was happy to see his side show their depth after a packed week, but did note there's room for improvement in his post-match comments, per BBC Sport:
"We played well but we couldn't take our chances, sometimes because of the final ball, sometimes because of finishing. After playing on Wednesday, we finished the game more looking more for solidarity because the legs were a bit jaded but we kept it together. We had a bit of luck but as well we had focus to defend to the end.

After struggling to keep pace with the top four this season, some at the Emirates Stadium feel this should be the end of the road for Wenger, and a group of travelling fans made their feelings known at the Hawthorns.
As shown by Eurosport, one of multiple banners on display from the Gunners support read: "Arsene, thanks for the memories but it's time to say goodbye."
Wenger obviously noticed the criticism and was quizzed on his reaction to those jibes, putting up a strong defence of the work he's done and hopes to continue doing for the club:
"I don't want to comment on that. I try to do my best for this club that I love. We are very united with the players and staff around the team, that's all you can do. It's easier to deal with the upwards than the downwards, but you cannot be a manager and have only one side.
"
Danny Welbeck's winner pours further hurt on the Baggies, who have now lost their last three Premier League outings on the trot, having failed to score in any of those fixtures.
Manager Alan Irvine has courted his own share of criticism as a result of such poor results, and Match of the Day Commentator Steve Wilson provides quotes from the boss regarding the crowd's questioning of his tactics:
At 1-0 down, "You don't know what you're doing" was the chant from the home fans as Stephane Sessegnon was hauled off in place of Georgios Samaras.
The result was an odd one in that both sides were left with their share of resentment towards the management. Irvine evidently comes off poorer than his Arsenal counterpart, but Wenger is still attracting unwanted attention, it seems.

For now, the Gunners are back among the top four and host Southampton in what should be a difficult test of their ability next Wednesday.
A victory would not only be a terrific boost for morale, but also for Wenger's pursuit of a Champions League finish this season. Defeat at home, however, would be seen as another setback for the club, intensifying the calls for Wenger's head.
