EPL Table: Latest Week 12 Results, Scores and 2014 Premier League Standings

Tom SunderlandNov 22, 2014

Chelsea's unbeaten 2014-15 season continued on Saturday as the Blues waltzed their way past West Brom 2-0, maintaining a steady lead at the summit of the Premier League standings.

Jose Mourinho was pleased to see those immediately below his side stumble, too, as West Ham fell at Everton to lose momentum in their push for a top-four place while Arsenal succumbed to Manchester United at home.

This season continues to promote the ethos that anyone is capable of beating anyone, and the drama unfolded in typically entertaining fashion in Week 12 of the campaign.

Sunday Recap

Crystal Palace 3-1 Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers will be wishing for the better times of last season, when his Liverpool side were the most potent of teams in front of goal, in Europe.

But as this game proved, the Liverpool of just a few months ago has disappeared, as the Reds fell at Selhurst Park, losing 3-1 to a tough Crystal Palace.

The game started well for Liverpool with striker Rickie Lambert grabbing a rare goal for himself, opening the scoring after just 2 minutes.

But Palace were to fight back through strikes from Dwight Gayle and Joe Ledley, with a beautiful free-kick from captain Mile Jedinak sealing a famous win for Neil Warnock.

The loss now sees Liverpool well off the pace for a Champions League finish with the Anfield club now in 12th.

Rodgers' position will surely come under further scrutiny if this losing streak continues—Liverpool have now lost three Premier League games on the spin.

Saturday Recap

Arsenal 1-2 Manchester United

Manchester United recorded their first away win in seven months to beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday and rise to fourth in the table despite the swirl of injuries that have hit their squad of late.

And it was actually an Arsenal player who gave the Red Devils their lead after Kieran Gibbs prodded a driven Antonio Valencia cross into his own net, per Soccer Gods:

It was a banded Red Devils display, the likes of which manager Louis van Gaal is becoming gradually more accustomed to see from his men since taking over at Old Trafford.

Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News was sure to heap praise on Chris Smalling in particular, who in the absence of injured defenders had a terrific outing against the Gunners:

Captain Wayne Rooney doubled United's lead with only minutes of normal time remaining, but Gunners supporters were pleased to see the return of Olivier Giroud, who grabbed a late consolation for his side.

The Frenchman made just his this appearance of the season and made an instant impact to score in the 94th minute, giving Arsene Wenger a glimmer of positivity from an otherwise disappointing result.

Everton 2-1 West Ham United

The Hammers travelled to Goodison Park on Saturday with a five-match unbeaten streak putting wind in their sails, but a 2-1 loss on Merseyside has put a dent in Sam Allardyce's mood.

Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Leon Osman ensured the Toffees kept up an impressive streak of their own, having now gone seven games without a loss across all competitions.

With injuries hurting Roberto Martinez's selection, it was an applaudable team effort that saw Everton claim their victory against threatening opposition.

And from one goalscorer to the next, Lukaku took to Twitter to heap praise on Osman after his fine outing, celebrating his 400th Everton appearance in style:

Mauro Zarate struck in the 56th minute to initially pull the Hammers level, but Everton continued to chip away at their foes and ultimately reap the rewards.

As a result, they now move into ninth place and are just two points off the top four, continuing their triumphant rise in form.

Stoke City 1-2 Burnley

STOKE ON TRENT, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 22: Steven Nzonzi of Stoke City and Referee Martin Atkinson exchange views during the Barclays Premier League match between Stoke City and Burnley at the Britannia Stadium on November 22, 2014 in Stoke on Trent, England

Several weeks ago it would have been considered unthinkable to imagine Burnley sealing back-to-back Premier League wins, but the Clarets built on their win over Hull City with three more points against Stoke on Saturday.

A Danny Ings double secured the spoils for Sean Dyche's men, and the Turf Moor manager remains confident his team can avoid the drop, per BBC Sport

"We can do what is deemed impossible and make it possible. We have been written off by everyone. At the start of the season I said we were one of the biggest underdogs in many years."

And one can hardly blame the Burnley helmsman after such a strong response from his team following their poor start to the Premier League season.

OptaJoe shows that brace hero Ings in particular may be beginning to find his feet in the top flight:

Jonathan Walters grabbed what would turn out to be only a consolation for the Potters, giving Mark Hughes' men their first league defeat in a month.
