LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 09: Referee Mike Jones shows the red card to Kyle Naughton #16 (L) of Spurs during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City at White Hart Lane on November 9, 2014 in London, England. (Photo by

Time is starting to run out for Mauricio Pochettino after Tottenham suffered another disappointing loss, 2-1, at home against Stoke City.

The Potters took an early lead through Bojan Krkic and doubled their advantage before half-time, with Jonathan Walters finding the back of the net. A toothless Spurs attack finally got on the board in the 78th minute, courtesy of Nacer Chadli, but a late push for an equaliser yielded no results.

Kyle Naughton was sent off late for a trip on Victor Moses, sacrificing himself in the hope his team-mates would find a way to tie up the match.

BeIN Sports' Tancredi Palmeri could make only one observation once the final whistle blew:

Pochettino didn't mince his words after the match, as shared by the club's official Twitter feed:

Tottenham have now lost three of their last four and find themselves well below the European slots, sitting 12th in the standings. For an ambitious club anxious to prove the progress they've made since reinvesting the money from the sale of Gareth Bale, that simply isn't good enough.

The international break couldn't come at a better time for Spurs, who need to find some answers in a hurry.

One man who isn't in need for answers is Alan Pardew, who has somehow guided Newcastle United to four straight wins after a dreadful start to the season. Ayoze and Fabricio Coloccini both scored in the Magpies' 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, and the squad now sits just two points below the European spots.

ESPN FC has about as good an explanation as the rest of us do:

There's no reason or logic behind Newcastle's resurgence other than momentum, but Gary Lineker believes the club's management deserves a lot of credit for sticking with Pardew when the going got tough:

Leighton Baines' penalty goal salvaged a point for Everton, drawing 1-1 against Sunderland after Sebastian Larsson had opened the score for the hosts with a stunning free-kick.

Like Spurs, the Toffees continue to underwhelm in 2014-15, although Roberto Martinez's men appear to be turning a corner, not having lost a match in their last four attempts.

SWANSEA, WALES - NOVEMBER 09: Swansea players Gylfi Sigurdsson (l) and Jefferson Montero celebrate the first Swansea goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Arsenal at Liberty Stadium on November 9, 2014 in Swansea, Wales.

Arsenal took the lead through Alexis Sanchez in Wales but ran into a fantastic free-kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson, before Bafetimbi Gomis gave hosts Swansea the lead three minutes later. Despite a late push from the Gunners, Swans held on for a 2-1 win.

The loss ends Arsenal's two-match win streak, placing the pressure back onto the shoulders of Arsene Wenger after his squad appeared to be figuring things out in the 3-0 win over Burnley. With Manchester United next on the schedule, things could get even worse for the Gunners.

Saturday Recap

Chelsea emerged victorious from Anfield on Saturday, beating Liverpool 2-1 after an eventful match. Emre Can put the hosts ahead early before Gary Cahill and Diego Costa turned the situation around for the undefeated league leaders.

Can's opener in the ninth minute was quickly cancelled out by Cahill, who nearly ran the ball into goal in a chaotic sequence. Goal-line technology was needed to confirm the goal, much to the dismay of the home fans.

The match threatened to spiral out of control after the Reds wanted a call for a handball on Cahill in the box and Costa shoved Martin Skrtel into Simon Mignolet. Balance was restored after that, although the battle between Costa and Skrtel remained entertaining, to say the least. KICKTV shared this image:

The Blues aimed for the counter-attack in the second half and were rewarded in the 67th minute, with Philippe Coutinho doing far too little to hinder Cesar Azpilicueta's run down the wing. The ball found its way to Costa, who scored his 10th of the season to give the visitors the win.

As reported by the Premier League's official website, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers felt his squad deserved better:

"

The players deserved a point at least, that's for sure. We've got to keep working hard.

I only hope we get some injured players back in that give us the threat we've had for the majority of my time here. We hope Daniel [Sturridge] will be ready when he comes back after the international break. There's no magic formula. You've just got to work hard. Of course confidence can get affected when you're not winning games.

"

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho gave his take before commenting on the injury concerns of Cesc Fabregas:

"

A fantastic performance, we play as a team and as individuals. We had the game under control. We showed big personality, one point at Anfield, most teams accept that as a fantastic result, but the team didn't accept that.

Fabregas maybe a problem for the next match. ... He has a hamstring problem.

"

The Reds played a solid match against a Blues squad that has dominated the league so far, but ultimately, their inexperience and lack of form showed. Chelsea Stats shared this worrying statistic:

Juan Mata scored the only goal in Manchester United's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, coming off the bench to score the winner via a deflected shot in the second half.

The visitors' Julian Speroni looked close to unbeatable on Saturday, but he was aided by United's issues in the attacking third. Robin van Persie once again looked out of place leading the line, often playing with his back toward the goal.

The Sport Bible's Liam wasn't particularly impressed with his performance:

Mata's winner brings the Red Devils' three-match winless streak to a halt, ensuring the gap with the Premier League's elite teams doesn't further widen. United will travel to London to play Arsenal next, so a result was sorely needed on Saturday.

Southampton continue to defy the odds in 2014-15, beating Leicester City 2-0 to stay in second place, just four points behind Chelsea. Shane Long scored twice inside the final 15 minutes, but it was manger Ronald Koeman's defence that once again stole the show, shutting out yet another opponent.

Long's brace was a special moment, however, via OptaJoe:

West Ham United and Aston Villa played out a scoreless draw, while Burnley finally booked their first win of the season, beating Hull City 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ashley Barnes.

Manchester City needed a late strike from Sergio Aguero to salvage a point against Queens Park Rangers, twice trailing after Charlie Austin opened the score and Martin Demichelis put the ball in his own net.

Aguero twice came to the Citizens' rescue, ensuring the team wouldn't suffer its third loss of the season. The gap between City and Chelsea continues to grow, however, the difference now being eight points.

The remaining four fixtures will be played on Sunday.
