Kaepernick posted about the decision on Instagram:
"The face you make when the NFL says you didn't use a racial slur and still fines you $5500? *shrugs* back to my grind! #IDontGetTired #WhoDoYouLove #Se7enPounds
"
George Atallah, who is the Assistant Executive Director of External Affairs at the NFL Players Association, commented on the league's decision:
The reported occurrence took place in Week 2 when the 49ers played the Chicago Bears. Chicago defensive lineman Lamarr Houston shared what transpired on the field, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune:
""He was just saying inappropriate language," Houston told the Tribune on Monday night at MetLife Stadium. He said Kaepernick cursed at him, including using the N-word.
Asked if he was insulted, Houston said it's more a "cultural thing." Houston reiterated that he incensed Kaepernick on the play by saying "nice pass" at the end of a Kyle Fuller interception.
"
Coach Jim Harbaugh also spoke about the initial report prior to the fine being reduced, via Barrows:
According to the most recent report from Barrows, the arbitrator did not find that Kaepernick used a racial slur as Houston alleged.
It appears Kaepernick has moved on from the incident with a 3-1 record since the heartbreaking Week 2 loss. The Niners signal-caller threw for a season-high 343 yards and three touchdowns during Monday night's 31-17 win over the St. Louis Rams.
With the distraction apparently behind him, Kaepernick and San Francisco can now focus on the Denver Broncos in what should be a huge Week 7 showdown. Having their offense clicking will be critical against the potent Peyton Manning-led offense.
