There is never a good time for injuries in sports, but they are particularly worrisome when they happen before the season. The Detroit Red Wings and center Pavel Datsyuk found that out the hard way Monday.
Ansar Khan of MLive.com filled fans in on the details:
The Red Wings need Datsyuk to be healthy heading into the 2014-15 season after a disappointing exit in the first round of the playoffs last year. Datsyuk finished with 17 goals and 20 assists a season ago for a total of 37 points and was one of the main cogs in the offensive attack.

He scored two points in each of Detroit’s final two losses to the Boston Bruins in the playoffs and was one of the lone bright spots in that entire series for the Red Wings. It remains to be seen just how serious this latest setback is, so Red Wings supporters will certainly keep an eye on that re-evaluation Tuesday.
Detroit needs its center to be healthy.
