Sergio Aguero, 10 goals
With a home fixture against Swansea City left to play, Sergio Aguero may yet improve upon his goal tally after becoming the first payer to reach double figures following his brace against Tottenham.
The Argentinian attacker has been mercurial in recent weeks and appears to be benefiting greatly as a result of Alvaro Negredo's arrival, the Spaniard figuring as a useful launching pad from which Aguero can work.
With three braces to his name already this season, when it rains, it tends to pour with Aguero, who's been Manuel Pellegrini's most consistent asset so far this season.
Luis Suarez, 9 Goals
Not far behind Aguero sits fellow South American Luis Suarez, who also has the opportunity to improve his goal tally this Sunday with a trip to the KC Stadium.
In the coming weeks, Liverpool have a favourable run of fixtures, including games against the likes of Norwich City and West Ham United. This leaves a good chance that the Uruguayan could possibly jump to the top of the scoring charts.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not the individual would benefit from Daniel Sturridge's absence. The striker's absence either promises to force Suarez into taking on more of the scoring duties independently or suffer as a result.
Daniel Sturridge, 9 Goals
And it's of course Sturridge himself who follows up teammate Suarez, level on nine goals despite the fact that it was Suarez who missed the first few weeks of the campaign through suspension.
Sturridge's hopes of improving his tally aren't helped by the fact that he misses the trip to Hull on Sunday, too, as confirmed by Guardian writers Daniel Taylor and Andy Hunter:
If Sturridge wants to remain near the top of the rankings, a swift return is obviously most preferable, although it's uncertain as to how likely that is right now.
