In the 10th minute of his match with Parma, Bologna's Panagiotis Kone hit the first goal of the contest. It was just 13 minutes later that Antonio Cassano hit an equalizer. At that point, it looked like this was going to be a high-scoring affair. That proved to be far from the case.
The rest of the match passed without a score. Although, Parma gave the home fans at Ennio Tardini reasons to have a hope their team would net a winner. The home side dominated 70 percent of possession and fired off twice as many on-target shots with eight.
All of this makes for what has to be a frustrating outcome. Parma was playing at home against the 17th-place team and couldn't earn any more than a draw.
The day's second match saw Davide Biondini net a goal in the 69th minute to draw home-side Genoa even with Torino at one.
Torino earned that advantage early when a strike from Omar El Kaddouri in the seventh minute gave Torino the lead. Neither team was able to earn more than a score on the day. As a result, Parma retains their one-point lead in the table over Torino.
Elsewhere, Juventus needed an extra time strike from Fernando Llorente to break the tie and escape with a thrilling victory to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Roma were not as fortunate, as they need a 90th-minute goal to level the score with Atalanta and leave with a single point.
The highest-scoring matches of the week were reserved for Monday, with a total 13 goals scored in only two matches.
Fiorentina came back from an early deficit to beat Verona 4-3, while Lazio were unable to keep up with Gonzalo Higuain (two goals) in a 4-2 win for Napoli.
Matchday 14 saw plenty of goals, with only two teams failing to find the back of the net, and some movement at the top of the table. What it didn't see, however, was Juventus displaced from first place as the men from Turin held onto the top spot.
