Fantasy Premier League 2013 Week 12: Players Likely to Earn Big Points

Tom SunderlandJun 8, 2018

Fantasy managers worldwide were assuredly tearing their hair out throughout the course of the international break, but the Premier League eases those woes with its return this weekend.

So far this season, your line-ups would have been smart to include the high-scoring likes of Sergio Aguero, Aaron Ramsey, Leighton Baines or Daniel Sturridge, but can you expect those stars to perform on a weekly basis?

A lot of a player's points aren't always due to pedigree, but due to the opposition, and this week's batch of fixtures offers even the lower ranks a chance to shine against weaker teams.

Read on for a couple of penny-pinching options who could get you a good return this weekend, as well as one savvy splurge to consider.

All statistics and prices are made referencing the official Fantasy Premier League website.

Loic Remy, Newcastle United

Opposition: Norwich City (H)

Value: £7.9m

Though Alan Pardew was far from the busiest Premier League manager this summer, the Magpies boss can feel safe in knowing that the one big transfer he did make, Loic Remy on loan from QPR, is coming good.

Since moving to the northeast, the Frenchman has replaced the void left by Demba Ba and a faltering Papiss Demba Cisse, bagging seven goals in his last seven matches, including one in each of his last two outings.

This weekend, Newcastle play host to the threat of Norwich City, with one win in their last six and just three points from their away travels so far in the campaign.

Having conceded an average of 2.80 goals per trip away from Carrow Road this season, Chris Hughton's currently have the worst away defence in the division and face a formidable test in Remy on Saturday.

Wilfried Bony, Swansea City

Opposition: Fulham (A)

Value: £7.4m

With Michu out injured for Swansea City, Michael Laudrup will again turn to Wilfried Bony as his main attacking outlet this weekend, the pair having chopped and changed usage according to tactics so far this term.

It was against Stoke City a fortnight ago that the Ivorian was handed his first Premier League start for three weeks, kindly obliging his manager with a brace of goals in the 3-3 draw.

It would seem the stocky striker thrives when looked upon as the focus going forward, which promises to bear fruit at Craven Cottage.

Martin Jol's men have kept just one home clean sheet this season and look an incredibly brittle outfit at the back, while the Swans' better defensive displays have been coming away from the Liberty Stadium.

Wayne Rooney, Manchester United

Opposition: Cardiff City (A)

Value: £11.0m

If you've got the funds to play with, Wayne Rooney continues to be Manchester United's biggest points producer this season, and a trip to Cardiff City this weekend holds the potential to add to his total.

Though the Bluebirds have achieved some impressive results in South Wales, cubs have shown the capacity to open Malky Mackay's side up on occasion, Manchester City, Tottenham and Newcastle all having scored in the capital.

With Robin van Persie a doubt for the trip, it's possible that Rooney could line up as David Moyes' main striker, but even if deployed in a more provisional role, it's likely that Cardiff will still feel his sting.
