Marco Reus Release Clause Confirmed Amid Manchester United, City, Arsenal Talk
Marco Reus is once again a man in high demand after it was confirmed by Borussia Dortmund's chief executive that the attacker has a release clause in his contract and "could leave the club."
Speaking to German outlet Sport1Media, via Nick Lustig of the Daily Star, Hans-Joachim Watzke commented candidly on Reus' contract situation:
"Marco Reus possesses a release clause option in his current contract at our club. He could leave our club due to that.
He is, however, the only player in our first-team squad that has such a contract clause.

The report goes on to state that the release fee is thought to be around £29.4 million and that Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all set to pay the German international attention this winter.
The confirmation of the clause comes as surprising when one considers Reus' return to the Westfalenstadion was seen as something of a homecoming for the player, who had spent his youth development in his native Dortmund.
If, as Watzke suggests, Reus is the only member of the Black and Yellows' senior squad to have such a clause, it begs the question of whose decision that might have been, whether it be player, agent or club.
Lustig's report also references an interview that the forward held with Kicker, in which he states: "I am under contract with the club until June 2017. Everything else is irrelevant, in my view."
It all makes for mixed signals at the moment, but manager Jurgen Klopp is bound to be as keen as ever to keep hold on Reus, considering he lost the services of another Dortmund darling, Mario Gotze, during the summer.
At the moment there's been no mention of Bayern Munich interest in the star's signature, which may act as small consolation for Der BVB considering the Bavarians' history of pulling other top talents from their rivals.
Reus has been pitted against City and Arsenal over the last two Champions League seasons, but is yet to face United in his career.
He managed to score past the Citizens last term and, although he couldn't repeat the feat against the Gunners this campaign, Arsene Wenger will know his talent all too well.
Dortmund are still enjoying a rise in European football and it's debatable as to whether any player should want to leave the Bundesliga giants, but the revelation of "Rolls" Reus' ability is bound to transpire further in the coming months.
