Fantasy Premier League 2013 Week 11: How Top Stars Will Perform Moving Forward

Tom SunderlandJun 1, 2018

Ten weeks into the Premier League season and there's inevitably a certain crop of talents who have emerged as must-have staples in the side of every fantasy manager.

However, while class is permanent for some, form is temporary for others, and if there's a time when it's likely to give out in the English top flight, it's the cold months of the winter period.

There's a good chance that one or a combination of the following stars will have found their way into your squad this term, but is it worth keeping them there for the trials ahead?

Not applying for injuries or any fixtures outside the Premier League, read on for a preview of what's to come for the top Fantasy League picks over the next few weeks.

Defensive Pick: Leighton Baines

As the most expensive defender in the game, one would like to think that Leighton Baines is capable of delivering points on a week-by-week basis—a venture he's been largely successful in so far this season.

However, next up for the Everton talisman is the small matter of a Merseyside derby in two weeks' time, with a trip to Manchester United just a fortnight after that.

Quite suitably for a player so essential to the Everton cause, Baines has played against only one club in his career more than he has Liverpool—Chelsea.

In 18 outings against his team's local rivals, the 28-year-old has managed just one assist. However, it came in a 2-2 draw last year, where he also managed to score his own goal.

The left-back holds a better individual record against Manchester United, but both of his two goals vs. the Red Devils came during his time as a Wigan Athletic star, the last of which being all the way back in 2006.

With that in mind, clean sheets won't be easy to come by over the next few weeks, and a fixture in between those two against a goal-shy Stoke City is the only one that holds decent value for Roberto Martinez's man.

Midfield Choice: Aaron Ramsey

Value: £7.2m

One of the main stories of the season so far, Aaron Ramsey's rise to Arsenal prominence is a bandwagon that every respectable fantasy manager will have jumped on while Ramsey could still be picked up for a pittance.

Having said that, the good times could be set to continue for the Welshman as his next three fixtures all involve teams who have been promoted to the Premier League in the last two seasons.

A meeting at home against Southampton is the most problematic, as the midfield pairing of Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin have so far been fruitful in caging opposition playmakers, meaning Ramsey might struggle at the Emirates in two weeks.

Having said that, if there's anyone capable of coming up with a crunch goal just when the Gunners are lacking firepower, it's Ramsey, and it would be folly to rule the 22-year-old out from thriving against anyone right now.

After the Saints come meetings with Cardiff City and Hull City, both of whom Arsene Wenger's side are capable of keeping a clean sheet against.

What's more, the chance for goals is bound to rise against the promoted pair, who have managed to keep seven Premier League clean sheets between the two of them so far this term.

Star Striker: Sergio Aguero

Value: £11.8m

Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City have gone above and beyond the attacking standards shown under Roberto Mancini this season, and the in-form pairing of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo have played no small part in that feat.

The Citizens are currently averaging four goals scored per home game this campaign and can look forward to back-to-back Etihad Stadium fixtures next.

Aguero is currently tied with Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge as the division's top scorer, but there's a chance for the Argentine forward to move clear to the top in that pursuit.

Tottenham will be a stern test of City's attacking mettle considering they've conceded just five goals this term, but if anyone's likely to be involved in the build-up, if not the finishing of any chances, it's Aguero.

The forward's league scoring streak stretches all the way back to mid-September, and he managed to score on his last outing against Spurs, again in November of last year.

Aguero has netted two goals apiece in his history against Swansea City and West Brom, too; both clubs enjoying boosts in their league estimations over the last year.

Having said that, the duo are currently settling for places just below mid-table, and it could be Aguero who takes advantage of their situations.
