Will Arsenal Get Back on Track?
After suffering their first loss since opening day, Arsenal are staring down a bit of adversity for the first time in more than two months.
The Gunners fell 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, ending their impressive unbeaten streak. Fortunately, Arsene Wenger's squad will have an excellent shot to begin a new streak on Saturday.
Arsenal will kick off Week 9 against Crystal Palace, who have dropped seven of their eight league matches coming into the weekend. Only Sunderland have conceded more goals than the Eagles, and that bodes extremely well for the Gunners' potent attack.
With first place in the league table on the line, look for Arsenal to play a determined match on the road in Week 9, recovering quickly from their loss earlier in the week.
Will Southampton Continue to Surprise?
While defending league champions Manchester United have underachieved thus far in manager David Moyes' first year, Southampton have surprised the rest of the league through the first two months, picking up 15 points through eight matches to propel themselves into sixth place in the league table.
The Saints drew plenty of attention to themselves after earning a hard-fought draw at Old Trafford last weekend but look poised to deliver despite elevated expectations. After all, they've only conceded three goals total through eight games.
Mauricio Pochettino's squad will host Fulham at St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday in a match the Saints should win.
Although there is still plenty of football left to be played, Southampton are sure to remain in the mix so long as they continue to defend at a high level and maximize on their opportunities in the final third.
