Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2013: Top Strikers to Boost Your Team

Tom SunderlandOct 6, 2013

Aside from the entertainment offered on the pitch by one of the world’s most exciting divisions, the other thrill of the Premier League lies in the pursuit of managerial superstardom.

With Manchester United’s attack not moving with as much ease as usual and several surprise names currently vying for top spot, it’s far from the usual suspects clamouring for Golden Boot honours.

So, with that being the case, just which strikers should you strive to ensure is in your line-up while playing a close eye to your budget?

With all prices and statistics referring to the official Premier League’s fantasy game, read on for a selection of picks you should be recruiting, all of whom managed to get on the score sheet this past weekend.

Romelu Lukaku

Club: Everton

Value: £7.8m

In just two-and-a-half games for loan club Everton, Romelu Lukaku has wasted no time in making himself a crowd favourite at Goodison Park.

The Belgian forward has built on his stint with West Brom last season and has scored four goals in three Premier League appearances for the Toffees so far, netting a goal once every 54 minutes on average.

With width playing a very important role in Roberto Martinez’s tactics, Lukaku has had a field day in terms of supply, bar the 3-1 Manchester City loss, and is keeping all other striking opposition firmly on the Everton bench.

At just £7.8 million, the youngster is an assured finisher and technically proficient value purchase, but won’t remain at that price for long.

Alvaro Negredo

Club: Manchester City

Value: £9.3m

A player whose price is currently down given that Edin Dzeko took his place in the starting team earlier in the season, Alvaro Negredo’s valuation is sure to rise now that he’s a consistent part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

The Spaniard has now started four consecutive games and has three goals and two assists to his name.

Negredo showed his smart finishing by giving City a late consolation in their 3-1 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich in midweek, arguably the strike of the night.

The Citizens spent big on their attack over the summer and are unsurprisingly reaping the benefits, currently sitting as the most threatening offense in the English top flight.

Club: Liverpool

Value: £11.3m

Goals just seem to follow Luis Suarez regardless of what trials and tribulations may blot his career path.

Since returning from a 10-match ban, the Uruguayan has looked hungrier than ever to propel Liverpool up the standings, netting three in his first two Premier League games of the campaign.

At £11.3 million, the forward is far from cheap but is sure to get your team both goals and assists. Not to mention, he will likely eclipse the £12 million mark by Christmas.
