Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2013: Strikers Who Are Great Week 7 Pickups
Don't worry. There's still plenty of time to get your Premier League fantasy team back on track and in contention.
Many EPL fantasy leagues are unlike their football, baseball and basketball counterparts. You don't have to worry about some other team having the player you're dying to get. Everybody's available to everybody. It's just a matter of having enough money.
That's where the skill comes in. You have to find that delicate balance where you don't spend too much on a small group of stars, leaving nothing left to fill out the squad.
If you're looking to overhaul the top of your attack, make sure at least one or two of these forwards are on your fantasy team.
Daniel Sturridge
Just how Luis Suarez's return will affect Daniel Sturridge has yet to be determined. There are plenty of people who believe the Uruguayan will disrupt everything Liverpool has done right this season and throw off Sturridge in the attack.
After the Reds' losses to Southampton and Manchester United, it's clear that they need a creative presence in place of Philippe Coutinho until he returns from injury. Once he's back to his match level, Suarez should be that kind of player. If anything, Sturridge will benefit from having the defense's attention pulled toward Suarez.
Crystal Palace isn't the toughest opposition, so Liverpool should be able to get on the front foot early and get shots on goal.
I'll admit that I undervalued Wayne Rooney this season. He has seasons where he looks like a world-beater, and this is one of them. Rooney got another goal from a free kick, although it was more because of a defensive breakdown than individual brilliance.
Regardless, Rooney is a player that you should be making the funds to purchase. He's been one of the few constants in Manchester United's attack, offering a great combination of finishing and creativity. He's played well off a more natural striker, whether it's Robin van Persie or Javier Hernandez.
United get Sunderland next week, so it should be an easy fixture for both the Red Devils and Rooney. The Black Cats are a mess at the moment, and even if they get a new manager by Saturday, he's not going to have much time to prepare for this match.
Rickie Lambert is a great option for just about every week. He's likely not a costly option, so you can go out and buy a big-name forward, pair him with Lambert and get a good return in points.
The 31-year-old doesn't have a high ceiling, but he also doesn't have a low floor. You can count on him getting 12-16 goals and a few assists as well.
Although his partnership with Pablo Daniel Osvaldo hasn't been too fruitful to start the season, you can see it getting better. They both found the net in Southampton's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
The Saints' match with Swansea City should be an open affair, giving Lambert plenty more opportunities to get you some points next week.
Andreas Weimann
While Paul Lambert is encouraged by Christian Benteke's recovery, the star forward is still going to miss Aston Villa's match against Hull City next Saturday, via The Telegraph. Although he's not a natural replacement, Andreas Weimann should continue to be more of a focal point in Villa's attack.
He's not a natural striker, but he's likely to fall under the "striker" category in most fantasy leagues.
The 22-year-old winger had the winner against Manchester City on Saturday. He wasn't constantly bombing up the pitch because Villa ceded the lion's share of possession. When his club was on the ball, however, Weimann was a threat.
Against Hull, Villa should be able to enjoy more time on the ball. That means more chances for Weimann to make it two games in a row with a goal, and at the very least, you should be looking at an assist.
