LA Galaxy vs. AC Milan: Viewing Info and Preview for ICC Third Place Match
The International Champions Cup comes to a close on Wednesday night with the tournament's final two matches. The action gets underway with the Los Angeles Galaxy, the event's lone American side, battling AC Milan for third place.
Los Angeles earned its spot in the clash after an impressive 3-1 victory over Juventus gave it a better goal differential than Premier League side Everton. The return of a trio of stars, most notably Landon Donovan, helped revitalize the Galaxy.
AC Milan defeated Valencia in a true road match to open the tournament, but weren't able to overcome an already in-form Chelsea squad in the semifinals. The Rossoneri will look to get back on track before turning their attention to the matches that count.
Here's a look at all the key information for the clash, followed by a preview and a prediction for which club will end up claiming third place in the inaugural International Champions Cup.

The Galaxy were without Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez in their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid. Not only did all three of the players return for the Juventus clash, but they each scored en route to the upset of the defending Serie A champions.
Los Angeles wouldn't be able to keep up with top European clubs on a consistent basis. But in a tournament where the high-profile sides are still in preseason mode, the Galaxy showed they are capable of taking advantage of an opportunity on the big stage.
They get one more chance to steal the spotlight against Milan and the game plan should remain the same. The Galaxy should attempt to push the pace in an effort to eliminate the preseason atmosphere European clubs are accustomed to at this point in the summer.
The combination of Donovan and Keane gives Los Angeles a dangerous attacking duo for a Rossoneri that's looked shaky throughout their friendly schedule. The more touches they get in the final third, the better the club's chances of picking up another notable victory.
Even if the Galaxy fall short, the tournament should serve as useful experience heading into the latter portions of the domestic campaign. It's been a strong showing overall for the MLS side.
Although Milan would have liked to raise a preseason trophy to provide a boost heading into the new campaign, manager Massimiliano Allegri wasn't going to overextend any players to do it. Despite the tournament setup, the boss has kept a preseason feel to the matches with Milan with plenty of subs.
It's impossible to blame him, of course. Not only is the Serie A season on the horizon, but Milan also have to survive the Champions League playoff round in order to reach the group stage of the important event. So he needs to make sure his stars are healthy.
Knowing that, the match will ultimately be decided by how much playing time the likes of Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli, among others, receive. Clearly, the less they are on the pitch, the better Los Angeles' chances become.
All told, it should be a competitive match. The Galaxy should be riding a wave of confidence after their win over Juventus. Milan should take the match seriously as the preseason winds toward its conclusion. So the slight edge goes to the Italian club.
Prediction: AC Milan 2, LA Galaxy 1
