Joe StrangeJun 8, 2018

While the likes of expensive-picks Robin van Persie, Vincent Kompany and Juan Mata sure to feature prominently among many Fantasy Premier League teams next season, potential bargains are always welcome.

Game restrictions will often make choosing all of your favourite players impossible, leaving you forced to include those who are unlikely to play regularly or who may not pick up many points.

Here we take a look at five cheaper options who could prove to be great signings for your Fantasy Football team.

Goalkeeper - Artur Boruc (Southampton) £4.5m

Initially signed on a free transfer by former Southampton manager Nigel Adkins, Boruc arrived after being released by Italian side Fiorentina.

The former Celtic goalkeeper took a little while to cement his place at the Saints but went on to play a key part in the south-coast side's successful relegation battle.

The 33-year-old committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year deal back in April and looks certain to retain his place as first-choice keeper next term.

With manager Mauricio Pochettino strengthening his defence and midfield with the signings of Dejan Lovren and Victor Wanyama respectively, expect Boruc to keep more clean sheets next season.

Defender - Fernando Amorebieta (Fulham) £4.5m

Another free transfer, Amorebieta joined Fulham this summer under the Bosman ruling after his contract at Spanish side Athletico Bilbao ran out.

The 6'4" centre-back spent eight years at Bilbao and racked up almost 200 appearances for the club before penning a four-year deal at Craven Cottage.

His height and physical presence should make adjusting to the Premier League a little easier, as will playing alongside the experienced Brede Hangeland.

With manager Martin Jol still looking to improve his squad after a poor end to last season, Amorebieta could well enjoy a fine first season in English football.

Midfielder - Ross Barkley (Everton) £4.5m

One of the most promising graduates of Everton's famous academy, Barkley has been widely tipped as a future star of the English national team.

The talented midfielder has seen glimpses of first-team football over the past two seasons without managing to establish himself as a regular starter.

After an impressive loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday last season and some good performances in recent friendly matches, the 20-year-old could be given a real chance under new boss Roberto Martinez.

His creativity and eye-for-goal could see him gain plenty of Fantasy Football points, particularly at Goodison Park.

Midfielder - Jose Campana (Crystal Palace) £5m

Signed on a four-year deal from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee earlier this summer, Campana joins newly-promoted Palace with an excellent pedigree behind him.

Often captaining his country Spain at youth international level, the classy central midfielder likes to get on the ball and pick a pass.

He has impressed for Ian Holloway's side during preseason and has a strong case to start their opening game at home to Tottenham alongside Mile Jedinak.

If Palace's strikers hit some form, don't be surprised if Campana is the one assisting them.

Striker - Nicolas Anelka (West Bromwich Albion) £5.5m

Journeyman Anelka is back from a brief spell at Italian side Juventus to have another crack at the Premier League with West Brom.

The former Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool striker has already showed his goalscoring instincts in preseason, scoring three times thus far.

With Romelu Lukaku now back at Chelsea, manager Steve Clarke will be expecting the Frenchman to lead the line and recapture the form he previously showed in England.

Even at 34, Anelka has what it takes to hit double-figures for the Baggies next season.
