Ryan RudnanskyMay 31, 2018

While top seeds Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Tommy Haas rolled to the quarterfinals on Monday, Stanislas Wawrinka shocked No. 7 seed Richard Gasquet at the 2013 French Open.

Wawrinka battled Gasquet for over four hours at Roland Garros before eventually emerging victorious, 6-7 (5-7), 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, 8-6.

Wawrinka will face Nadal in the quarterfinals, while Haas will face Djokovic.

Predictions for Tuesday's Matches

Agnieszka Radwanska (4) vs. Sara Errani (5)

Agnieszka Radwanska is not only 24-7 with two singles titles this year, but she's also 6-1 lifetime against Sara Errani. In the pair's last matchup in Istanbul in 2012, Radwanska won, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.

Radwanska also has yet to lose a set in the 2013 French Open, disposing of No. 14 seed Ana Ivanovic, 6-2, 6-4.

On the other hand, Errani hasn't had a bad campaign herself. She's 31-13 this season, including a title in Acapulco. She battled back to defeat No. 20 seed Carla Suarez-Navarro in the fourth round, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

In the end, I'm going to go with Radwanska, although recent losses to Simona Halep and Laura Robson give me some pause.

Prediction: Radwanska 4-6, 6-4, 7-5

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6) vs. Roger Federer (2)

Is it me, or does it feel like these guys have faced each other more than 12 times in their careers?

Perhaps it's Tsonga's victory over Federer at Wimbledon in 2011, or his battle against Federer in the Australian Open this year.

In any case, in two of the last three majors against Federer, Tsonga has been a challenge for the Swiss great.

I don't think that changes at the 2013 French Open. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Tsonga defeats Federer at Roland Garros this year.

It mostly has to do with how I see each player performing at this point.

Federer was down two sets to one against Gilles Simon in the fourth round before eventually outclassing the No. 15 seed. On the other hand, Tsonga has been brilliant at Roland Garros, refusing to drop a set in the tournament and showing an improved backhand (which has always been his weakness).

Many will disagree (Federer is an all-time great, after all), but I'm going with Tsonga in five sets.

Prediction: Tsonga 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5

Serena Williams (1) vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova

Svetlana Kuznetsova, as you may remember, defeated Serena Williams in the quarterfinals of the 2009 French Open, 7-6, 5-7, 7-5. She's been to the semifinals and quarterfinals in separate years at Roland Garros, so she is not to be taken lightly.

On top of that, Williams faces Kuznetsova on the same court from 2009, as Matt Zemek of CFN.Scout.com noted:

That being said, Williams has looked better at the French Open this year than in 2009, refusing to drop a set in the tournament. In addition, the 31-year-old American is 6-2 versus Kuznetsova overall.

Williams came into the 2013 French Open 36-2 with two singles titles. Look for her to roll to the semifinals at Roland Garros.

Prediction: Williams 6-3, 6-2

Tommy Robredo vs. David Ferrer (4)

Tommy Robredo has been the definition of a warrior at the 2013 French Open. His last three matches at Roland Garros have all gone five sets. What's more, he's lost the first two sets in each of these matches, only to roar back at the end.

But as admirable as the 31-year-old's run has been at Roland Garros this year, he's outclassed by David Ferrer, plain and simple.

Ferrer, who was 31-9 with two singles titles coming into Roland Garros, is 6-2 lifetime against Robredo. That includes winning their last three matches. He hasn't lost to Robredo since 2008.

Ferrer, who is coming off a straight-set victory over No. 23 seed Kevin Anderson, also has yet to lose a set at the 2013 French Open. He will be better rested than Robredo.

Prediction: Ferrer 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2
