UEFA European Under-21 Championship Players Who Tottenham Should Consider

0 of 5

The UEFA European Under-21 Championship will provide teams all over Europe with a chance to see some of the best available young players the game has to offer.

With Tottenham Hotspur missing out on Champions League football again, the team is looking for talent to bring in to ensure better upcoming seasons. Surely, the players in the U21 championship will be looked at closely to see who would make a good addition.

Here are five who Tottenham should pay attention to in Israel.

Lorenzo Insigne

Lorenzo Insigne is a striker who plays for Napoli and will represent Italy at the Under-21 Championship.

Insigne is small in stature (he's 5'3") but has a big game.

For Napoli this past season, the Italian had five goals and seven assists. During qualifying for the U21 team, he netted three goals and assisted on five more.

With the striker situation at Tottenham being what it is, Insigne would be a good addition.

He has a lot of potential, but the player doesn't expect to be leaving Napoli any time soon, according to Nadia Carminati of Sky Sports.

Håvard Nordtveit

Håvard Nordtveit is a former center-back who now plays as a defensive midfielder for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Nordtveit was once a member of Arsenal but left the club in 2010 after Arsene Wenger allowed the player to sign with Monchengladbach. Wenger liked Nordtveit but didn't see a spot for him on the Gunners, according to an article written by Chris Harris on Arsenal.com.

In Germany, Nordtveit has become one of his side's most important players.

In 2012, Nordtveit was linked with a £5 million move to Liverpool by The Independent. He will likely cost Spurs a few million more now.

He will represent Norway at the U21 championship.

Patrick Herrmann

Patrick Herrmann is another Borussia Monchengladbach player who has excelled for the team.

Herrmann was a teammate of Marco Reus during Reus's tenure at Monchengladbach. Since Reus left the club for Borussia Dortmund, Herrmann has taken over.

Many fans believe he is the "Next Reus".

Although his numbers are not that impressive, Herrmann does have the potential to be one of the next big German stars.

He is the player to watch on the Germany Under-21 squad

Luuk De Jong

One player who will have many eyes on him at the tournament is Netherlands' Luuk de Jong.

The young forward, who is also a member of Borussia Monchengladbach, is one of the most highly-rated players participating in the tournament.

In his 30 games for his German side this season, de Jong contributed eight goals and three assists.

He is particularly good in the air on both ends of the pitch and a good passer.

Once a Newcastle target, the Dutchman signed with Monchengladbach for £10 million in July 2012, according to The Mirror.

Cristian Tello

Cristian Tello will be a member of the star-studded Spain Under-21 team at the European Championship.

The young Barcelona star is looking for a move out of the Nou Camp after failing to get regular first-team action.

Tello has a release clause of £8.5 million, according to David Maddock of The Mirror. However, he is linked with a move to Liverpool.

Tello had eight goals and five assists this past season.

The winger/striker is known for his passing and dribbling skills, but can also score some beautiful goals.
