Jabrill Peppers' Best Fits from Dwindled List of College Football Programs

John RozumJun 8, 2018

Jabrill Peppers is among college football's top 2014 recruits, and he has reportedly dwindled his list of schools.

According to MaxPreps.com, Peppers will choose from six schools and expected to select a program on Sunday:

"

He will make his much-anticipated college decision on Sunday at 5:15 p.m. in an announcement on ESPNU. Peppers has narrowed the list down to LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.

Using his list, let's find the best fits for making an immediate impact at the collegiate level.

Ohio State

For one, the Buckeyes have BCS National Championship expectations with Coach Urban Meyer. Coming off a 12-0 campaign, the Buckeyes have every reason to anticipate another perfect season.

Second, Ohio State may lose elite cornerback Brad Roby to pro football after the 2013 season. Roby enters this fall among the top overall defenders in the nation. And given his 19 defended passes with 63 tackles last fall, another solid year will have Roby as a top-10 NFL draft prospect.

As a result, Peppers can come in and instantly take over. Peppers has both man coverage and zone awareness skills, so he'll allow Meyer's secondary to lock down half the field.

Notre Dame

The Irish aren't exactly young at cornerback heading into the 2013 college football season.

That bodes nicely for Peppers to enter South Bend and quickly isolate at cornerback.

The Irish will lose Bennett Jackson, a senior coming off a season where he defended eight passes and made four picks.

Peppers' wherewithal and his natural athleticism will simply keep the turnovers coming.

In addition, his size, at 6'1" and 210 pounds is excellent for playing press coverage in Cover 1 and Cover 2. Ultimately, Peppers' impact for Brian Kelly and Co. will be maintaining a physical identity at each defensive level.

Michigan

The Wolverines are looking like the most likely choice for Peppers. Brady Hoke's team is the unanimous selection amongst the 247Sports.com crystal ball predictions.

Mesh that with Michigan's need to sustain its strong pass defense and Peppers suits the Wolverines perfectly.

The Wolverines ranked No. 2 in pass defense a season ago, but did allowed a 58.8 completion percentage (ranked No. 50). Fortunately, Peppers' knack for making plays on the ball and quickly redirecting to the developing route is capable of emerging as a competitive advantage.

After all, the Wolverines also only managed seven interceptions in 2012.
