NBA Top 5: Reasons to Watch the NBA During March Madness
The NBA season is starting to draw to a close. We have about a month left before the playoffs start, and March Madness is about to take over most of ESPN's and CBS's air-time.
But there are those who don't find it all that exciting. (Okay, so I have filled out a bracket and joined a pool, but I didn't exactly know the teams that I was picking, although I am doing pretty good at this point.)
So why should you stay tuned in to the NBA stars that these collegiate Goliaths hope to one day be?
I have narrowed it down to five reasons to keep your eyes on the more veteran class of basketball players.
As of right now, there are only seven games difference between first place, Los Angeles Lakers, and ninth place, Denver Nuggets.
It is completely impossible to select where teams will be placed in the West, other than by pure luck.
The Houston Rockets just ended a 22-game winning streak, and they are now in THIRD PLACE!
The Hornets are playing extremely well, but then again, so is everybody.
2. The MVP Race
A month ago, this was a two horse race. Now, other players are catching up to Kobe and LeBron.
Tracy McGrady and Chris Paul are receiving some serious MVP talk now that their importance to their teams are being noticed by the world at large.
The MVP race has been exciting, with Kobe and LeBron going out every night and trying to prove that they are better than the other. (Kind of the way Randy Moss wanted to prove that he was better than Terrell Owens.)
But now that T-Mac and CP3 have entered the race, we are in for an exciting final month with all these players going out to prove themselves night in and night out.
3. The Resurection of the Big Man
Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Shaq, Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, the list of talented big men goes on and on these days.
We went through a period where big men were only important in defensive schemes and getting points only when shots weren't falling from outside.
Now, the guys inside are scoring like madmen. Dwight Howard is averaging over 20 ppg, along with Duncan, Shaq, Bosh, Garnett, Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudamire all averaging double digit points while grabbing plenty of rebounds.
C'mon, admit it, you love to watch horrible teams continue to make hilarious attempts to win games because they technically have a chance to extend their horrible season.
I know that I have been inches away from throwing multiple objects (balls, plates, chairs) through my T.V. because of watching my beloved Bulls make awful attempts to be what they were supposed to be this year.
And look on the bright side, they have the Celtics,Piston, and a chance to plug my latest article about the Orlando Magic. (I love promo opportunities)
5. Bruce Bowen
Time for my list within a list, you weren't expecting that were you!
My Top Five Bruce Bowen "I Didn't Do It" Moments are...
The guy is one of the "best" defenders in basketball, I just see a lot of dirty play.
I'm Joe W.
