College Football Recruiting 2013: Ranking the Top 10 Offensive Prospects

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Here's a fresh peak at the top offensive prospects in the 2013 recruiting class. There are many talented prospects who didn't make this list, which shows you how much excellent offensive talent there is in this class.

Scoring points in football is what puts people in the seats. The following 10 prospects are sure to help their future college teams pack the house.

10. Derrick Henry, RB

1 of 10

Henry is a 6'3", 245-pound running back from Florida with great athleticism. He runs with more speed and elusiveness than power, though his strength should improve in college.

After rushing for more than 2,000 yards in each of his past three seasons, Henry is set to go out with a bang as a senior. His quickness, instincts and speed on such a large body is a sight to see.

I believe Alabama leads Tennessee, with Georgia a distant third in my estimation.

9. Shane Morris, QB

2 of 10

A strong-armed lefty, Morris suffered a setback last week when it was discovered he has mononucleosis. He likely will miss the rest of his senior season, but he's still a top-10 offensive talent.

At 6'3" and 190 pounds, Morris has a quick set-up in the pocket and can get the football out in a flash. He shows great arm strength and also is very mobile, which allows him to buy time and elude rushers.

He's committed to Michigan, where his charisma and moxie will help him compete for the starting QB job as a true freshman.

8. Darius James, OL

3 of 10

James is a fantastic prospect from Texas who has a world of potential. He stands 6'5", 320 pounds and moves like a small forward at times.

Committed to Texas, James is viewed as the nation's top center prospect. Personally, I think he has the tools to play left tackle due to his athleticism, quickness, strength and agility.

Whether he plays an interior line position or gets deployed on the edges, I expect James to be an All-Big 12 selection before he leaves Austin.

7. Robert Foster, WR

4 of 10

Foster hails from Pennsylvania and is one of the most explosive players in the country. A sudden and athletic receiver, Foster has good release quickness and can avoid press coverage well.

He eats up cushion quickly and shows little need to decelerate to cut sharply. Foster has great separate quickness to detach from defenders attempting to cover him and is a terrific run-after-the-catch receiver.

My hunch says he ends up at Pitt.

6. Christian Hackenberg, QB

5 of 10

Hackenberg has what you want in a potential franchise signal-caller. He stands 6'3", 215 pounds and has a great arm.

Thanks to a quick release, Hackenberg wastes little motion delivering the football to targets downfield. His balls have nice velocity, and he understands how important ball placement is to each throw.

A Penn State pledge, Hackenberg could be an immediate starter in Happy Valley.

5. Kelvin Taylor, RB

6 of 10

If Taylor has just an average senior season, his production would still warrant consideration for National Player of the Year. He's the all-time leading rusher is Florida high school history and is one of the nation's  best running backs.

At 5'11" and 216 pounds, Taylor combines a thick body with tremendous quickness. Possessed with a great burst to and through holes, he is quick to jump to the second level, where he flashes amazing elusiveness.

Taylor is a productive playmaker. That should serve him well at Florida.

4. Ty Isaac, RB

7 of 10

Our top running back on this list, Isaac also has the ability to be a receiver. The 6'3", 220-pound Illinois native shows great ball skills and route-running ability.

Due to his big frame, speed, elusiveness and instincts, Isaac is a versatile offensive weapon. He can play the traditional running back role or be multiple-position player.

Committed to USC, it will be fascinating to see how Lane Kiffin uses him.

3. Max Browne, QB

8 of 10

Browne is a 6'5", 215-pound QB who has great polish and tools. He plays with sound mechanics and fires the football with outstanding delivery quickness.

Showing great accuracy, Browne also knows when a tough throw is necessary to complete a pass. He is sharp in his pre-snap read of defenses and can adjust well in the post-snap phase.

With his tools and mental acumen, Browne should become another great USC QB.

2. Laremy Tunsil, OT

9 of 10

Left tackles are always going to be premium recruits. That is especially the case now, since many teams run sophisticated passing attacks and need to protect their QBs.

Tunsil, from Florida, is the best left tackle prospect in the nation. The 6'6", 295-pound prospect has easy movement in space, sets up quickly and can mirror rushers with ease.

Tunsil also has great ability to get to the second level as a run-blocker. I would be surprised if didn't wind up at Georgia or Alabama.

1. Ricky Seals-Jones, WR-TE

10 of 10

Seals-Jones suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago but should be back for a playoff run. He's a big 6'5", 230-pound Texan who can do an array of things on the field.

Playing QB right now, Seals-Jones will likely start off as a receiver in college. But his best long-term potential could actually be as a tight end.

Seals-Jones' speed, rare size, agility, leaping ability and instincts to make plays make him the top offensive talent in America right now. Mike Farrell of Rivals.com reports Seals-Jones is down to LSU and Texas A&M.
