Cal vs. Ohio State: Golden Bears Defense Will Be No Match for Buckeyes

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

Cal has given up a combined 62 points in its first two games this season. Ohio State has scored a combined 87 points in its first two games.

Any questions?

As the Buckeyes host the Golden Bears on Saturday at Ohio Stadium, they have already proven to be a dangerous team behind sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller.

Cal's defense doesn't figure to expose any weaknesses offensively.

Keep in mind, this is the same Cal team that allowed Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo to rush for 97 yards and a touchdown. Fajardo also went 25-of-32 for 230 yards in that game, and the Golden Bears allowed the Wolf Pack to rush for 220 yards and four touchdowns.

In Week 2, Cal allowed Southern Utah quarterback Brad Sorensen to go 31-of-45 for 292 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Have an idea how Miller is going to perform against Cal on Saturday?

Miller, of course, has been a game-changer for the Buckeyes this season. In two games, he's gone 32-of-48 for 362 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He's also rushed for 302 yards and four touchdowns (he had four combined touchdowns against UCF last week).

You add the fact that senior running back Jordan Hall is expected to play on Saturday after an offseason injury, and the murky backfield situation for Ohio State improves too.

Oh yeah, and the Ohio State defense has allowed 13.0 points per game so far this season.

After scoring 50 points against Southern Utah last week, Cal could very well put up some points against Ohio State on Saturday.

The problem is, it won't matter because the defense won't be able to stop the Buckeyes.
