College Football Week 3 Point Spreads on the Move

College football bettors were looking ahead to Week 3 of the 2012 college football season due to some marquee conference matchups, but the week has lost a bit of its luster due to Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Tyler Wilson's uncertain status against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Pac-12 Conference battle in Palo Alto, CA, will likely receive the most amount of wagers with sports books, with the USC Trojans currently listed as 7.5-point road favorites (courtesy of SBR Forum) against the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday.

Let's take a closer look at the biggest movers in the market now that the college football betting odds have been available for a couple days.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Florida State Seminoles

The Florida State Seminoles have yet to be tested in playing arguably the softest schedule in major college football, but now they will be seeking revenge from last year's 35-30 series loss as 10-point road favorites.

I'm under the impression this is a sharp move in the betting market—based on the fact that the Wake Forest Demon Deacons would attract some public action after scoring a 28-27 upset victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels as 10-point home underdogs last week.

Sports bettors will find that the Demon Deacons are 3-8 against the spread (ATS) on the road the last two-plus years.

Texas A&M Aggies vs. SMU Mustangs

The Texas A&M Aggies are being backed like a sure thing at the betting window, which is likely due to their new head coach having success against Saturday's opponent.

Kevin Sumlin won all four meetings with the SMU Mustangs during his time guiding the Houston Cougars in Conference USA action.

Casual sports bettors may follow the move due to the Aggies being 3-0 ATS when they are favored between 10.5 to 21 points the last two-plus seasons.

Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers

I believe that most college football fans were surprised when the Tennessee Volunteers opened up as a pick 'em over the Florida Gators, which has caused a three-point shift in the number.

Due to the Gators going 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings, I'm not sure if it was the right move.

Oddsmakers knew that line would attract action on the host in this high-profile Southeastern Conference affair.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Michigan State Spartans

The Michigan State Spartans outgained the Central Michigan Chippewas and Boise State Broncos by a combined 505 yards in winning their first two games, which is a very impressive number with a new starting quarterback at the helm.

Early action landed squarely on the Spartans despite the Notre Dame Fighting Irish covering five of their last six games in East Lansing.

Sports bettors will struggle to find a clear edge in terms of a betting trend, with the Spartans compiling a 7-6 ATS record as a home favorite the last two-plus seasons.

USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal

Other than alumni, you're going to have a hard time finding anyone backing the Stanford Cardinal against the USC Trojans in Las Vegas this weekend, especially with former star quarterback Andrew Luck playing for the Indianapolis Colts on Sundays.

The movement in this number is significant, considering the proximity of Southern California to Sin City, as sports books will start getting heavy public action on the Trojans on Thursday until Saturday's kickoff.

Somebody has a lot of money on the Cardinal, which isn't surprising due to this being the first time they've been a home underdog since Nov. 7, 2009.
