London Olympics 2012: 5 Star Players Who Saw Mexico to Gold Against Brazil
Mexico defeated Brazil to win the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. The victory was a stunning one for Mexico and the world.
Oribe Peralta was the main player that propelled Mexico to victory. While expecting a tough match, I thought Brazil was going to win.
My congratulations to Mexico and the Mexican National Football Squad in its victory. An invitation is extended to the Bleacher Report readers to enjoy the slideshow of 5 star players who saw Mexico to gold against Brazil.
5. Thiago Silva
1 of 6Thiago Silva participated in the match between Mexico and Brazil. The photo speaks for itself as a symbol of what transpired in this match.
4. Javier Aquino
2 of 6Javier Aquino assisted Oribe Peralta in one of the goals for Mexico. Aquino intercepted the ball from Brazilian and Manchester United forward Rafael.
He proceeded to pass the ball to Peralta who gave it a direct kick inside the left area of the goal post.
3. Neymar
3 of 6Neymar was another player who saw Mexico win the gold at the expense of his country. The temptation to comment is great but the photo expresses more than what words could say.
2. Marco Fabian
4 of 6Marco Fabian was the instrument behind the second goal scored by Oribe Peralta. Fabian took a free kick close to the penalty box which helped Peralta head the ball inside the goal post.
1. Oribe Peralta
5 of 6Oribe Peralta was the main figure in Mexico capturing the Gold Medal. The two goals from the forward for Mexico and Santos Laguna stunned Brazil within one and 75 minutes.
According to FIFA with a h/t to ESPN, Peralta made history by scoring the fastest goal since the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Peralta, according to ESPN Soccernet, scored 17 goals, started 26 matches, and had 39 shots in goal within 60 shots during the current Mexican season.
Hulk scored a goal in an attempt to save Brazil in the second half but it was too late.
Conclusion
6 of 6Mexico's victory is one of historical proportions. It remains to be seen what will transpire in the days, weeks and months towards the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
I would like to thank the B/R readers for their time in reading the slideshow. My best wishes to everyone until the next time.
