Ranking the 10 Ugliest International Kits in 2012
International teams have some of the best players around, but not the best kits. In 2012, we have seen some pretty bad-looking kits from a variety of teams.
Every few years, international teams upgrade their kits, and 2012 saw the premier of a few new ones. Teams participating in Euro 2012 and the African Cup of Nations are probably at the top of the list when folks think about new kits, but other teams made changes as well.
Here are the 10 ugliest international kits we've seen so far this year.
10. Japan Kit 2012
1 of 10Japan hasn't worn this kit in a game yet as far as I can tell, so there's still time to change it.
Get rid of the red stripe down the middle, and its all good.
09. Panama Home Kit
2 of 10Is that a spider's web on the top right-hand side of the Panamanian jersey.
Probably not.
Thankfully, the design doesn't go across too much of the jersey, but it does just enough to attract a lot of attention. And not in a good way.
08. Germany Away Kit Euro 2012
3 of 10Germany went for an old school look with this kit, but it didn't quite pan out.
They probably second guessed the selection. They haven't even worn the kit once during the tournament.
07. Russia Euro 2012 Goalkeeper Kit
4 of 10The stripe down the middle of the jersey works well for the other 10 players on the Russian team.
It doesn't work for the goalkeeper's kit though.
06. South Korea Kit
5 of 10Not really sure what to say about this Nike effort for South Korea.
The blue and red colors have been incorporated in better ways in the past.
05. Spain Euro 2012 Away Kit
6 of 10Gerard Pique is lucky he starting dating Shakira before he had to put on this kit.
The dark stripe across the middle is random and unnecessary.
04. Sierra Leone Kit
7 of 10This was an interesting concept from Sierra Leone, but there is just too much going on for this shirt to look good.
It would be a fine shirt to wear under regular circumstances, but not on the pitch.
03. New Zealand Kit 2012
8 of 10Being the new kings of the Oceanic Football Confederation (OFC) must be getting to New Zealand's head. They tried to go with some sort of flash here, but it just looks funny instead of stylish.
They should really just follow the rugby team and stay plain.
02. USA Mens Soccer Kit
9 of 10Create a "Where's Waldo?" fan team? Check.
01. Team Great Britain
10 of 10Team Great Britain may have a great array of talent on the field at the Olympics.
The team may produce some good football, but they won't be sporting a good looking kit.
