Power Ranking Every Offense in the NFC East
It is kind of tough to say that the NFC East is a weak division when the defending Super Bowl champions reside in that division.
In 2011, the NFC East had a down year due to the weakness of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants were the only "powerhouse" to make the second season and they made it to the final game and won.
But besides the division's feebleness, there is still a grand amount of offensive firepower here.
Without bias, maybe a little, here are the top five offenses in the NFC East.
1.Philadelphia Eagles
1 of 4The Eagles had the NFL’s fourth-best offense last season. Michael Vick and the “Iggles” had almost 400 offensive yards per game. They were potent in 2011 and will remain that way this year.
Receiver DeSean Jackson has a new deal (h/t ESPN), Michael Vick has renewed desire, running back LeSean McCoy is looking to morph into the league’s best running back and they have one of the best tight ends in the division in Brent Celek.
The Eagles will be a major force in 2012 as evidenced by the talent on the roster. Now a Super Bowl? That’s a different article.
2. New York Giants
2 of 4The defending Super Bowl champs are simply good. They averaged a flat 385 offensive yards in 2011 and Eli Manning went off with almost 5,000 yards through the air.
They will be without the underwhelming and loudmouthed Brandon Jacobs as he was allowed to walk to another team. Victor Cruz and Ahmad Bradshaw are still on offense, so they should be just fine.
My only concern with the Giants is their penchant for being inconsistent. While I respect Eli's two Super Bowl rings, they have got to be two of the most insipid Super Bowl wins I've seen.
He is a very unassuming champion, but he has an assassin's creed. Look for the Giants to remain at the top of their game in 2012.
3. Dallas Cowboys
3 of 4I rank Dallas third because their offense can underwhelm at times. Still—they had the 11th-best offense in the entire league behind a shaky offensive line, an injured backfield and hurt wide receivers.
Stability and consistency should be staples for Dallas in 2012 as wide receiver Dez Bryant has matured, Miles Austin is healthy and the offensive line is younger and steeped in balance.
The key for the Cowboys will just be remaining consistent. Tony Romo is one of the league's best passers and DeMarco Murray may soon turn into the league's best runner. But Dallas has to put roots down and decide on which direction to take, run or pass.
4. Washington Redskins
4 of 4Their future is bright as former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III will be the team's new starting quarterback. What's most interesting about the 'Skins offense is that they were 16th in the league.
Most would believe that Washington would've been bottom dwellers, but they weren't. So they really aren't that far away from turning the corner.
Their team is getting younger and while progress is a slow process, 'Skins fans have hope for the future.
