Georgia Cheerleader Trods on Rivalry, Transfers to Georgia Tech for Kicker
Stop me if you heard this one, but a Georgia cheerleader is leaving her school to transfer to Georgia Tech for her kicker boyfriend.
It's Romeo and Juliet, or Maria and Tony from West Side Story if that's more your thing. In a sense, the story about the Hatfields and McCoys of Georgia football doesn't make a lick of sense.
Larry Brown Sports catches wind of a tale of love so strong, it couldn't keep a cheerleader and a kicker apart. Consider this a shoutout to all you romantics, or kickers who hold out hope of dating.
The story comes from an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report on Georgia's Sidni Vaughn leaving the Bulldogs and enrolling with the enemy at Georgia Tech.
Yes, she will be cheering for the Yellow Jackets this fall, and I assume it's due to her boyfriend, Tech kicker David Scully.
Let's temper the thoughts that Vaughn is some hopeless romantic who couldn't bare to be without her kicker boyfriend, because it seems that is only one part of the story.
She aspires to be a physical therapist and figured there would be far more chances for her in Atlanta than there would be in Athens.
She does, however, mention about the move to be with Scully, via AJC:
"It feels like everything fits better together...I think it’ll be a lot better because I can truly support him and be happy with what I’m doing.
"
I can sense quite a few Georgia fans boiling over with immense hate over the biggest traitor this side of Anakin Skywalker delivering a poor acting performance and then turning to the dark side.
However, I am pleased to announce that Bulldogs fans have been first-rate in their class. Vaughn reports there have been no hate texts or Facebook posts.
That's the best news in this report, as a university proves it can stay classy despite a great rivalry. That's how it's done, Bulldogs.
