USA vs. Japan: Dominant Victory Exactly What USA Women Needed Before Olympics
With their most recent victory over a fellow powerhouse, the U.S. women's soccer team is officially ready for the 2012 Olympics.
Team USA avenged their 2011 World Cup loss to Japan, beating the Japanese 4-1 in their penultimate warm-up match before heading to London. It was their third match against the defending World Cup champs this year, with each team winning one game apiece. The two battled to a 1-1 draw in April.
While the United States struggled to find the net in that game, they had no such issues on Monday.

Abby Wambach, who is second all time with 138 goals for the national team, scored twice. As did Alex Morgan, the 22-year-old phenom who has been dominant for USA in their Olympic tuneups.
Morgan scored on a laser in the third minute and added another goal in the 61st to seal the win for the United States. The University of California alum now has 17 goals in Team USA's 15 matches this year. The American women are the favorites heading into London, and if Morgan continues to terrorize opposing back lines, they will be in prime position to take home the gold.
Team USA also got another strong performance from keeper Hope Solo, who has allowed just seven goals in 14 appearances this year. Her play will be critical in America's quest to defend their 2008 gold medal, and given her recent success on big stages, I'm not worried about her stepping up.
The United States have one more exhibition match before the Olympics, as they will face Canada on June 30. After that, the real games begin, with Team USA playing their first match of the 2012 Olympic games against France on July 25.
