8 Elite College Football Recruits Who Are Close to Narrowing Down Their Lists
With the growing trend of committing early in today's college football recruiting scene, it seems like recruits are coming off the board left and right. Yet, there are still many who seem willing to go through the process one step at a time.
With summer just right around the corner, now comes the time when recruits really have a chance to focus on their recruitment and weigh their options. With that comes the process of narrowing down their lists.
For this read, I'm going to give you eight prospects who are close to narrowing down their lists.
8. Hatari Byrd, S
1 of 8Hatari Byrd is a big safety prospect from Central California. He stands 6'2", 200 pounds and could really factor on the back end. He could also grow into a college OLB.
Byrd told Scout.com that he will be narrowing down his list this summer. I think, based on a hunch, that UCLA could be the favorite, but there's a lot of time left.
7. Alvin Kamara, RB
2 of 8Kamara is going to be a headache for defenses on third downs in college. The 5'9", 195-pounder is a stick of dynamite, and he has elite quickness and shake-and-bake movement skills as a receiver out of the backfield.
As far as narrowing down his list, Kamara tells Scout.com that he'll narrow his list down to a top five either this month or sometime in July.
Alabama and Georgia look pretty good right now.
6. Darrell Daniels, WR
3 of 8Darrell Daniels is a big 6'3", 210-pound WR from Northern California who can juice up to go get the football in flight. He's a wanted man around the country by many of college football's top programs.
Daniels recently informed Scout.com that he'll be releasing a top five list this summer and to look for USC and Washington to be on it.
5. Vonn Bell, DB
4 of 8Bell is a 6'0", 190-pound DB who can play SS, FS and CB for a secondary. He has excellent speed, break-on-ball ability, ball skills and can hit well, too.
Offers have poured from all over for this Tennessee native, and Bell has been making the rounds. He just recently camped at Ohio State, where he told Scout.com that he will be releasing his top list soon. Bell can play in the SEC or any other elite program.
4. Eddie Vanderdoes, DT
5 of 8Vanderdoes is fresh off a dominating performance at the Eugene Nike Football Training Camp, where he snatched up an invite to The Opening football camp at Nike headquarters in Oregon.
A 6'4" and 295-pound DT prospect with excellent strength from Auburn, Calif., Vanderdoes has more than 40 scholarship offers. He tells Scout.com that he will be whittling down his list within the next few weeks, but it still could contain more than 10 schools.
3. Derrick Green, RB
6 of 8Green has risen up the boards this spring. Not only is he a big back at 6'0" and 225 pounds, but he also has good speed, quick feet and a good burst.
The Virginia back has top offers from top schools in top conferences. Mike Farrell of Rivals.com recently tweeted that Green will announce a top 10 list at the Rivals Challenge next week.
2. Montravius Adams, DT
7 of 8Montravius Adams, in my opinion, could wind up either at Clemson or in the SEC. However, he holds offers from just about everybody, as the 6'3", 285-pound DT is a good one.
From Georgia, Adams recently told Scout.com that he could narrow it down as soon as the start of his season, or he could wait until afterward to fully focus on his recruiting.
1. Max Redfield, S
8 of 8Redfield is a 6'2", 200-pound safety from Southern California who is a classic, ball-hawking free safety type. He has excellent ball skills, speed and range to patrol the back end with ease.
He recently told Scout.com that he knows that his standouts are USC, LSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington and Cal. He hasn't finalized a narrowed-down list, but, in all likelihood, those schools pretty much are the remaining suitors for him.
Edwin Weathersby has worked in scouting/player personnel departments for three professional football teams, including the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena League. He spent a year evaluating prep prospects and writing specific recruiting and scouting content articles for Student Sports Football (now ESPN Rise-HS).
A syndicated scout and writer, he's also contributed to WeAreSC.com, GatorBait.net and Diamonds in the Rough Inc., a college football and NFL draft magazine.
