Siri Answers Burning College Football Questions for 2012

Amy DaughtersJun 7, 2018

B/R: “Will the Minnesota Golden Gophers play in a bowl game in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me check that for you. I don’t know that. Would you like to search the web for it?”

B/R: “Yes, I would.”

Siri’s Search Results:

After providing numerous links that don’t answer our burning question, we regroup and decide to ask Siri using a different angle.

B/R: “How many games will the 2012 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team win?”

Siri: “Hmm…Let me think…one second. Ok…how about a web search for ‘How many games will the 2012 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team win’?”

B/R: “Sure.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Again, it takes a long time to get to a link that even comes near answering the initial question we asked Siri, but finally we get a link to a report on GopherHole.com that helps.

The site asks its readers the question, “How many games will the Gophers win in 2012?” with the options being “one to three games,” “four to six games,” “five to seven games,” “eight-10 games” or “11+ games.”

The overwhelming majority of respondents answered either “five to seven games” (55 percent chose this option) or “four to six games” (31 percent voted for this choice), meaning that bowl eligibility (six games) is definitely a possibility.

Siri says: Minnesota has a relatively good chance of winning six games and earning a bowl berth in 2012.

Who’s Going to Win the Heisman Trophy?

1 of 50

B/R: “Who’s going to win the Heisman Trophy?”

Siri: “Let me check on that. I’d don’t know that. Would you like to search the web for it?”

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri’s Search Results:

The third search option (after the Heisman.com site and a prediction from the 2011 race) offered up for review was “Heisman Trophy Odds” from BankrollSports.com.

Bankroll Sports, and therefore Siri, gives USC’s Matt Barkley the nod with a national high 3.85-to-1 odds to win the 2012 Heisman.

Siri says: Matt Barkley will win the 2012 Heisman Trophy.

Will the SEC Win Another National Championship?

2 of 50

B/R:  “Will the SEC win another national championship?”

Siri: “Checking my sources…I don’t know that. Would you like to search the web for it?”

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri’s Search Results:

The first really relevant search option, after a slew of 2011 predictions and some baseball stuff, comes via a piece entitled “Conference Championship Odds: The SEC” published on JustCoverBlog.com.

This piece rightly asserts that it’s likely, based on history, that the 2012-13 SEC Champ will go on to win the BCS National Championship and then goes on to give odds for who will win the SEC.

The top five picks are as follows, which are technically presented by our good friend Siri, LSU 200/1, Alabama 210/1, Georgia 500/1, Arkansas 700/1 and South Carolina 1050/1.

Siri says: She is confident that the next BCS champ will be from the SEC.  Furthermore, LSU has the best shot at winning the SEC.

What Do You Think of the BCS?

3 of 50

B/R: “What do you think of the BCS?”

Siri: “I really couldn’t say.”

B/R: “Do you think it is a legitimate way to pick a champion?”

Siri: “I think differently.”

Amen, sister.

Siri says: She is not in favor of the BCS.

How Long Will Charlie Weis Last at Kansas?

4 of 50

B/R: “How long will Charlie Weis last at Kansas?”

Siri: “Let me check on that, how about a web search for ‘How long will Charlie Weis last at Kansas?'”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri’s very first offering comes via DeadSpin.com and a piece that basically answers our question in its descriptive title, “Charlie Weis Will Give Kansas Five Years, Then He’s Gone.”

Siri says: Charlie Weis will stay at Kansas for five years.

Will the WAC Still Be Around in 2013?

5 of 50

B/R: “Will the WAC survive until 2013?”

Siri: Checking on that for you. OK…how about a web search for ‘Will the whack survive until 2013’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Seeing how the verbally driven Siri replaced “WAC” with “whack” we are treated to a piece on Royte.com that discusses “Trash tourism,” which apparently involves tourists willingly scavenging through debris that washes ashore from a far off weather event.

The “whack” comes from the article claiming that “Hawaiians will get another whack at it when the debris field circles back around in years to come.”

Siri says: She has no direct opinion on the shelf life of the Western Athletic Conference.

Will Zach Mettenberger Still Be the Starter at LSU By The End of the Season?

6 of 50

B/R: “Will Zach Mettenberger still be the starting QB at LSU by the end of the season?”

Siri: “Hmm…let me think. OK…how about a web search for ‘Will Zach net in burger still be a starting quarterback at LSU by the end of the season?”

B/R: “Yes, Siri, thanks.”

Siri’s Search Results:

The first relevant search result from Siri in this query comes via a March 24, 2012 article on Nola.com by Jim Kleinpeter.

The article details the three TD passes Mettenberger tossed in a spring scrimmage. The piece itself and the comments are very upbeat about Mettenberger not just being the starter for the distance, but the guy who will lead LSU back to title town.

Siri infers: Zach Mettenberger should spend the entire 2012 season as the starting QB at LSU.

Do You Like Nick Saban?

7 of 50

B/R: “Do you like Nick Saban?”

Siri: “This is about you, Amy, not me.”

B/R: “Do you think Nick Saban is a good coach?”

Siri: “I really couldn’t say.”

Siri says: She either has no personal opinion regarding Nick Saban, or has chosen not to disclose it at this time.

Will Florida Reach Double-Digit Wins in 2012?

8 of 50

B/R: “Will the Florida Gators win more than nine football games in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me think about that…I can’t answer that. But I could search the web for it, if you like.”

B/R: “Great!”

Siri: “Wow! Really?”

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri: “That’s what I figured.”

B/R:  “Please search the web for ‘Will the Florida Gators win more than nine football games in 2012.’”

Siri: “Searching the web for ‘Will the Florida Gators win more than nine football games in 2012.’”

Siri’s Search Results:

After providing three links that don’t answer our question, Siri gives us a link to “Florida Gators Football: Game-by-Game Predictions for 2012” which was penned by Blake Silvers on the BleacherReport.com.

Silvers predicts Florida will go 6-6 in 2012 with losses to LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri and Florida State.

Siri Says: No, Florida will not win double-digits in 2012.

Will Vandy Make Back-to-Back Bowl Games for the First time in History?

9 of 50

B/R: “Will Vanderbilt go to a bowl game in 2012?”

Siri: “Checking on that for you. OK…how about a web search for ‘Will Vanderbilt go to a bowl game in 2012’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

After serving up two outdated predictions from 2011, Siri links us to a compelling piece on AthlonSports.com which discusses whether Vanderbilt or Tennessee will win more SEC games in 2012.

This presentation polls six experts, and if we read well between the lines, we find almost a consensus decision that Vandy is likely to win the six games necessary to be in the 57 percent of teams who make a bowl game in 2012.

Siri says: Vanderbilt goes to consecutive bowl games for the first time in history.

Can Michigan Beat Alabama in Week 1?

10 of 50

B/R: “Who wins the Michigan vs. Alabama football game in 2012?”

Siri: “Hmm…let me think. OK…how about a web search for ‘Who wins the Michigan versus Alabama football game in 2012.”

B/R: “No, who do YOU think will win the game?”

Siri: “Let me check, How about a web search for ‘who do you think will win the game?”

B/R: “Does Siri think Michigan will beat Alabama?”

Siri: “How about a web search for ‘Does Siri think Michigan will beat Alabama?’”

B/R: “OK, search the web for ‘Who wins the Michigan vs. Alabama football game in 2012.”

Siri’s Search Results:

After clearly avoiding our direct line of questioning, Siri offers up Blake Silver’s 2012 Alabama Game-by-Game predictions published on BleacherReport.com.

Silver gives the Crimson Tide the nod in the blockbuster Week 1 class with Michigan in Arlington.

Siri says (indirectly): Alabama beats Michigan in Week 1 of the 2012 season.

Will Minnesota Be Bowl Eligible?

11 of 50

Should Mack Brown Wash That Gray Right Out of His Hair?

Can TCU Win as Many Games in the Big 12 as They Did in the MWC?

13 of 50

B/R: “How many games will TCU win in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me check for that you. How about a web search for ‘How many games will TCU win in football in 2012’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri’s first selection in this case was a link to an AthlonSports.com piece that asks five experts how many Big 12 games the Horned Frogs will win in 2012.

If you average all the responses, according to these guys TCU goes 5-3 in its inaugural Big 12 slate.

Siri says: Since TCU won seven MWC games in 2011, it’ll win less league games in its first year in the Big 12.

Can Florida State Run the Tables?

14 of 50

B/R: “Can Florida State go undefeated in football 2012?”

Siri: “Searching for ‘can Florida State go undefeated in football in 2012?’”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri doesn’t waste any time with this request and immediately provides us with a link to an ESPN.com article which discusses whether Florida State or Clemson can win it all in 2012.

The piece, penned by Heather Dinich, references an article by ESPN insider Travis Haney who says the Seminoles can indeed win it all, but in her wrap-up, Dinich says that FSU, in her opinion, won’t go all the way this season.

Siri says: Though others might predict otherwise, Florida State won’t go undefeated in 2012.

Will Maryland Wear the Same Uniforms?

15 of 50

B/R: “Will Maryland wear the same football uniforms in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me think about that…How about a web search for ‘Will Maryland where the same football uniforms into thousand 12?’”

B/R: “No, did you think Maryland’s uniforms were horrible last year?”

Siri: “I respect you.”

B/R: “Will you still respect me in the morning?”

Siri: “This is about you, not me?”

B/R: “I respect you.”

Siri: “Amy, I don’t understand ‘I respect you’.”

Siri says: Maryland’s uniforms were so bad last season that she can’t bear to comment on them, she also has either a fear of intimacy or just doesn’t like to discuss her innermost thoughts.

Who Will Play in the 2013 Rose Bowl?

16 of 50

B/R: “Who will play in the 2013 Rose Bowl?”

Siri: “Let me check on that, how about a web search for ‘Who will play in the 2013 Rose Bowl’?”

B/R: “That would be a delight!”

Siri: “Amy, I don’t understand, “That would be a delight’.”

B/R: “Search the web for whom will play in the 2013 Rose Bowl?”

Siri’s Search Results:

For this burning question, Siri directs us to a BleacherReport.com piece written by Nikhil Baradwaj back in late November of last year.

The article, titled “Bowl Projections: Predicting the 2013 Rose Bowl and Other BCS Bowl Games,” predicts that USC will square off with Michigan in the 2013 “Granddaddy of Them All.”

Siri says: It is USC and the Michigan Wolverines in a classic 2013 Rose Bowl extravaganza.

Can Chip Kelly Win the Pac-12 for the Fourth Straight Year?

17 of 50

B/R: “Will the Oregon Ducks win the Pac-12 in football in 2012?”

Siri: “I don’t see ‘Will Oregon’ in your contacts. Did you mean Will Daughters?”

B/R: “No, 'Will the Oregon Ducks win the Pac-12 in football in 2012?'”

Siri: “Let me think about that. How about a web search for ‘Will the Oregon Ducks win the pack 12 in football in 2012’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri takes us directly to a fan forum via AddictedToQuack.com that is aptly titled, “What are your expectations for Oregon Ducks football in 2012?”

Though there is much lively debate one comment sums it up best, “Ultimately, until a CK-coached Oregon team fails to win the Pac-12, I will expect us to win the Pac-12.”

Well said.

Siri says: Oregon wins the Pac-12 in 2012, and will continue to do so moving forward until another team steps up.

Will Craig James Find a Job in 2012?

18 of 50

B/R: “What will Craig James do next?”

Siri: “Let me think about that. Would you like to search the web for it?”

B/R: “Yes, I would.”

Siri’s Search Result:

In this case Siri directs us to a piece on the entertaining KegsnEggsBlog.com that points out that Craig James got less votes in his Senate campaign than the per game attendance at all but one of Texas Tech’s 2011 home football games.

The article, “Craig James’ Senate Run Has Been Sacked for a Loss” doesn’t really indicate what’s next for James, but it does put his political aspirations into perspective.

Siri says: Though we don’t know what Craig James’ next career move is, we do know he won’t be the next senator from the state of Texas.

Will Boise State Win in Double Digits?

19 of 50

B/R: “How many games will Boise State win in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Coming right up. How about a web search for ‘How many games will Boise State win in football in 2012’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri directs us immediately to a site aptly called, “One Bronco Nation Under God” or obnug.com which references a lengthy discourse from ESPN Insider.

The piece, titled “ESPN thinks the 2012 Boise State football team can win it all, maybe, possibly, if the stars align” is penned by Kevan Lee and finally concludes that “Boise State will win no fewer than nine games and maybe even go undefeated.”

Siri says: There is a distinct possibility that Boise State wins less than 10 games for the first time since 2005.

Who Wins the Notre Dame at Oklahoma Game?

20 of 50

B/R: “Who will win the 2012 Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma football game?”

Siri: “Let me check on that. No answer was forthcoming.  How about a web search?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri again takes us to the BleacherReport.com where Connor Killoren has just recently reviewed Notre Dame’s 2012 slate with his landmark “Notre Dame Football: Ranking Irish’s Toughest Games in 2012.”

Killoren has the Irish’s clash with the Sooners in Norman as second only to their annual affair with USC in terms of difficulty this season.

Though Killoren doesn’t definitively pick a winner in this one, he rightly asserts that “the Sooners have been virtually unbeatable at home under head coach Bob Stoops.”

Siri says: Oklahoma beats Notre Dame at home in 2012, because there is no place like home.

Saban or Miles?

21 of 50

B/R: “Would you hire Nick Saban or Les Miles to coach your football team?”

Siri: “I found 11 places matching “Nick”…10 of them are in Sabin in Oregon…”

B/R: “OK, thanks. Who is the better coach, Nick Saban or Les Miles?”

Siri: “Checking my sources…OK…How about a web search for ‘Who is the better coach Nick Sabin or Les Miles?’”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Though there was a plethora of results in this search, only a very few were written after the 2011-12 BCS title game, which must be considered ultra relevant in terms of this burning question.

Siri finally settled on a SportingNews.com piece that ranked the college football coaches from No. 1 to No. 124.

In this poll, written in May of this year, Saban earned the No. 1 honors while Miles came in at No. 4.

Siri says: Nick Saban is the better football coach, she’d hire him.

Can West Virginia Win the Big 12?

22 of 50

B/R: “Can West Virginia win the Big 12 in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Searching the web for ‘Can West Virginia win the Big 12 in football in 2012.’”

Siri’s Search Results:

To answer this one, Siri shines a bright light on an Alex Sims article titled “West Virginia Football: How West Virginia Plans to Conquer the Big 12 Immediately.”

Sims’ plan of action, published on BleacherReport.com in late May is basically, take care of Texas and Oklahoma, win at home, throw the ball in Holgorsen’s offense and most importantly “come ready to play EVERY week.”

Siri says: West Virginia has a legitimate shot at a title in their first season in the Big 12, if they get all their ducks in a row.

What About Shooting Bears?

23 of 50

B/R: “Would you shoot a bear if you were in college football?”

Siri: Let me check that for you. OK…how about a web search for ‘Would you shoot a bear if you were in college football’?”

B/R: “No, would you should a bear?”

Siri: “OK, I didn’t think so.”

B/R: “You don’t have a gun, do you?”

Siri: “I don’t want to argue.”

Siri says: Unlike Washington State head coach Mike Leach and Iowa’s QB James Vandenberg, Siri won’t be hunting bears this season.

Will Michigan Win the Big Ten?

24 of 50

B/R: “Will Michigan win the Big Ten in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me check on that. Would you like me to search the web for ‘Will Michigan win the Big Ten football in 2012’?”

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri’s information seeking mission brings us directly to a BleacherReport.com article by Connor Muldowney titled “2012 Big Ten Football: Why Mark Dantonio’s Spartans Will Win Big.”

Therefore, we’ll wildly claim that Siri is picking Michigan State, not Michigan, to win the Big Ten in 2012.

Siri says: Michigan will not win the Big Ten in 2012.

How Many Games Will Arkansas Win in 2012?

25 of 50

B/R: “How many games will Arkansas win in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Hmm…let me think. I can’t answer that. But I could search the web for it, if you like.”

B/R: “Yes, please.”

Siri’s Search Results:

After an exhaustive search, Siri’s first search option that was written since the relevant dismissal of coach Bobby Petrino is a little number on BleacherReport.com by Randy Chambers titled “Arkansas Football: The Ins and Outs, Highs and Lows of the 2012 Schedule.”

Reading between the lines in this one, Chambers, and therefore Siri, has got Arkansas winning nine to 10 games in 2012, with possible swing games being an upset win over LSU and an upset loss to Auburn.

Siri says: Arkansas will win nine to 10 games this season.

Will Florida State Join the Big 12?

26 of 50

B/R: “Will Florida State join the Big 12?”

Siri: “Let me thing about that. Ok...how about a web search for ‘Will Florida State join the big 12’?”

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri’s Search Results:

The third option down in Siri’s web search gives us a piece by Gregg Doyel from CBSsports.com titled “Florida State was supposed to save the ACC, but instead it’s killing it.”

Doyel predicts that not only will Florida State leave the ACC; it will signal the beginning of its demise. It’s an intriguing read and places much of the blame on ACC commissioner John Swofford’s recent tactics.

Siri says: Florida State will ultimately join the Big 12 or another conference.

Is Brian Kelly Doomed at Notre Dame?

27 of 50

B/R: “Is Brian Kelly doomed at Notre Dame?”

Siri: “I don’t see ‘Brian Kelly’ in your contacts…perhaps you meant one of these?”

Siri then lists all my personal contacts that include the name “Brian” or “Kelly.” These include “Kelly Clarkson” and “Brian Sipe” but not “Brian Kelly.”

Siri Says: She is undecided on the fate of Brian Kelly at Notre Dame.

Will Texas Tech Go to a Bowl Game?

28 of 50

B/R:  “Will Texas Tech go to a bowl game?”

Siri: “I’m on it…Would you like to search the web for, ‘Will Texas Tech to a bowl game’?

B/R: “Yes.”

Siri: “Searching for ‘Will Texas Tech go to a bowl game.’”

Siri’s Search Results:

The first link Siri offered was a piece titled “Bowl projections – College Football Bowls” from CBSsports.com.

These projections for the 2012-13 season are provided by the very excellent Jerry Palm, and have Texas Tech getting back on the bowl band wagon by clashing with Pitt in the Pinstripe Bowl this coming December in New York city.

In case you were wondering, this is the game that matches up the No. 7 team from the Big 12 with the No. 4 squad from the Big East.

Siri says: Texas Tech will finish seventh in the Big 12 and will go bowling.

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri’s answer to our question via a web search begins with a BleacherReport.com article penned by Keegan McNally titled “Alabama Football: Why Eddie Lacy Will Take the Nation by Storm in 2012.”

McNally gives five solid points as to why Lacy should be among “everyone’s preseason top five Heisman candidates.”

Siri says: Eddie Lacy will be a Heisman finalist in 2012.

Will Texas A&M Win a SEC Game in 2012?

30 of 50

B/R: “Will Texas A&M Win a SEC football game in 2012?”

Siri: “Checking on that for you…Just a second…Would you like to search the web for ‘Will Texas A&M win on SEC football game in 2012?”

B/R: “Yes, please.”

Siri’s Search Results:

To answer this question Siri directs us to a piece on Opposingviews.com titled “College Football Analysis: How Will Missouri, Texas A&M Look in 2012.”

The article provides three opinions regarding the Aggies first campaign in the SEC which range from wining two/three conference games to finishing fifth in the West.

Siri says: Texas A&M will win at least one SEC football game in 2012.

B/R: “Who has the best uniforms in college football?”

Siri: “Let me think about that.  I don’t know that. Would you like to search the web for it?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

After serving up a bunch of links that don’t completely answer our question, Siri gives us a link to Answers.com where a single respondent provided a response.

According to this completely unbiased person, the University of Wyoming Cowboys have the best kit in the land, a statement that is backed up by a celebratory “Go Pokes!”

Siri says: Wyoming has the best uniforms in college football.

Listed second to a piece that discusses whether or not Georgia can win the entire SEC conference, Siri recommends a compelling piece on Athlonsports.com called “Georgia or South Carolina: The SEC East’s Best Team in 2012?”

The article polls five experts and the decision is ultimately three to two in favor of South Carolina, not Georgia, in terms of which squad captures the SEC East in 2012.

Siri says: Georgia will not win the SEC East in 2012.

Will Wisconsin Win the Big Ten Again?

33 of 50

B/R: “Will Wisconsin Win the Big Ten in football in 2012.”

Siri: “I’m on it. Let’s see…I can’t answer that. But I could search the web for it, if you like.”

B/R: “Go ahead.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri offers up another compelling BleacherReport.com article to answer our burning question and this time we get a Connor Killoren piece titled “3 Dark Horse Candidates to Win the Big Ten Football Title in 2012.”

Killoren’s three long shots are Penn State, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Siri says: Though not a front-runner, Wisconsin will have a shot at a third straight Big Ten crown.

Who Wins the 2012 Red River Rivalry?

34 of 50

B/R: “Who will win the 2012 Red River Rivalry?”

Siri: “Amy, I don’t understand ‘Who’ll win the 2012 Red River Rivalry?”

B/R: “Who will win the Texas vs. Oklahoma football game in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me check on that. OK…how about a web search for ‘Who will win the Texas versus Oklahoma football game in 2012’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri’s first relevant link leads us back to BleacherReport.com where Randy Chambers has written a 14 stanza delight titled “Texas 2012 Football Schedule: Keys to Each Game.”

Chambers states that the key to the 2012 Red River Rivalry will be turnovers, the stat that has decided the last seven Texas vs. Oklahoma meetings.

Siri says: Based on Texas’ vs. Oklahoma’s turnover numbers from 2011 (the Longhorns lost 26 balls last season while the Sooners suffered 29 turnovers), the Longhorns win the game even though they turned the ball over five times in last year’s blowout loss.

36 of 50

B/R: “What’s your favorite college football team?”

Siri: “My name is Siri, and I was designed by Apple in California. That's all I'm prepared to say.”

B/R: “Is your favorite college football team in the SEC?”

Siri: “I found a number of colleges…21 of them are fairly close to you…”

Siri says: To protect her neutrality, she’s not going to reveal her team, and it’s unknown as to whether the said team is in the SEC.

Big Ten or SEC?

37 of 50

B/R: “Which conference is more powerful, the Big Ten or the SEC?”

Siri: “Let me check that for you. OK…how about a web search for ‘Which conference is more powerful the Big Ten or the SEC’?”

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

Siri is all about actual on-field results, so it’s no surprise that she directs us to a piece on SECSportsFan.com that breaks down the SEC vs. the Big Ten in football.

The piece is compelling and basically asserts that up until the 2009 season the conferences were close to even in head-to-head play and then the SEC just took over, dominating ever since.

The stats speak for themselves in this case.

Siri says: The SEC is a better football conference than the Big Ten, especially since 2009.

Will Miami (Fla.) Be Postseason Banned?

38 of 50

B/R: “Will the Miami Hurricanes be postseason banned in 2012?”

Siri: “I’m on it. How about a web search for ‘Will the Miami Hurricanes be postseason ban in 2012’?”

B/R: “Yes, please.”

To answer the fate of the Hurricanes, Siri directs us to a Yahoo Sports opinion piece penned by Jimmy Collins back in April who sees a postseason ban penalty as a “likely” result to Miami’s transgressions.

Siri says: Miami (Fla.) is likely to be out of the 2012-13 bowl picture due to self-inflicted wounds.

B/R: “OK.”

Siri’s Search Results:

The said debate had a mere one well-worded response that clearly asserts that the Buffs will win less than five games this season.

Siri says: Unfortunately, Colorado won’t break .500 in 2012.

Siri: “I am?”

B/R: “Yes, you are.”

Siri: “I thought so.”

B/R: “Can Army beat Navy in football in 2012?”

Siri: “Let me check on that. How about a web search for ‘Can Army beat Navy in football in 2012’?”

Siri: “Checking on that for you…OK…how about a web search for ‘Who wins the 2012 Army versus Navy football game?’”

The first relevant article in Siri’s search-a-rama is a Shaun Bummer article penned in March and aptly titled “Big Ten Football: 5 Bold Predictions.”

The piece comes to us via BleacherReport.com and one of the five forecasts include the assertion that Northwestern will indeed win a bowl game in 2012.

The reasons given by Bummer are a new dual-threat quarterback in Kain Colter, the linebacker corps and a cooperative schedule that should propel the Wildcats into a Little Caesars Bowl appearance and a win over a MAC foe.

Siri says: Yes, Northwestern will win its first bowl game since 1949.

Siri says: The Men of Troy win the big, cheesy enchilada in 2012-13.
