Ohio State Recruiting: Jalin Marshall Will Be the Next Big Weapon in Columbus
While Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes lost out on Jaylon Smith, the dynamic linebacker recruit, to Notre Dame, the Scarlet and Gray have plenty to get excited about in Columbus. One such reason for excitement comes in the form of Jalin Marshall. We give Marshall the Full Ride treatment as myself, JC Shurburtt and Barton Simmons fill you in on what to expect out of one of the nation's premier athletes.
If you're an Ohio State fan, Ted Ginn Jr. comes to mind as the type of dynamic playmaker who could take the ball to the house every time it was in his hands. Marshall will be transitioning from the high school quarterback position to the wide receiver spot at Ohio State and he will hit the ground running. In Urban's offense, look for Marshall to slide into the hybrid receiver-running back role quickly. As he learns how to run routes and be a viable receiving target, expect Tom Herman to get Marshall the ball with handoffs and swing passes that allow him to make the most of his ability in space.
Cameron Burrows is likely the best player that Meyer has committed for 2013, but Marshall is not far behind him. They are both elite level athletes; the only reason Burrows is in the lead is we all know that he is going to be a defensive back. For Marshall we're still waiting to see how Meyer utilizes the ball of talent that will be arriving in Columbus. Marshall can ball and he is most certainly going to have quite the impact when he gets to Ohio State.
