Tottenham Transfer Rumours: 5 Deals to Make Spurs Premier League Contenders

Ryan DayJun 7, 2018

With the 2011-12 season over, Harry Redknapp staying at White Hart Lane and Champions League glory only a Chelsea loss in the Champions League final away, there's just one thing left to worry about:

Who will be the newest additions to Spurs next season?

June and July will be the two most important months in Tottenham's bid to win the Premier League next season. Will Daniel Levy put his money where his mouth is and jump on the young talents who have White Hart Lane in mind for a possible destination, or will Spurs clam up and try to win the title cheaply?

It's going to be a wild transfer window with Tottenham competing with big-money clubs all around England for the best football talents all over the world. Join me as I give you five transfer rumors that, if they come true, will launch Spurs into title contention next season.

Emmanuel Adebayor

1 of 5

As you'll see, Tottenham's biggest and best signings are going to come from within White Hart Lane's walls.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Spurs are ready to offer the Togolese international £4 million up front along with a weekly salary of £100,000.

The former Manchester City striker gets a lot of flack for his inconsistent play (and I'm right there to bring the criticisms), but Adebayor pairs well with everybody, no matter who is in at the attacking midfielder position. Give him Rafael van der Vaart and he'll get in the air, put Gareth Bale wide and Adebayor is ready to fire off a rocket of a shot, give him Jermain Defoe and he'll feed the quick striker the ball and collect the assist.

Keeping the good players you have will be a top priority for Tottenham and Adebayor is near the top of the list along with...

Gareth Bale

2 of 5

If I listed every single rumor Gareth Bale was associated with, we'd be here a while. Suffice to say, everyone wants a piece of the best player to come out of Wales since Ryan Giggs.

The best clubs in the world want the right-winger and Tottenham will need to entice him to stay. Harry Redknapp staying will help, but if Tottenham wants to win the title, they'll need him.

Aaron Lennon's good, but he's no Gareth Bale.

Kasper Schmeichel

3 of 5

The Sun is reporting that Tottenham may be looking outside of the top-flight of English football for a replacement for 40-year-old Brad Friedel.

Now, Friedel may have ended the season with a remarkable 14 clean sheets this season, but Leicester City has a star goalkeeper in Kasper Schmeichel who will be available for "around £2 million" and will provide more than enough competition for Friedel, if not a desperately needed replacement.

Demba Ba

4 of 5

Metro.co.uk reported that Tottenham has a transfer wish-list that includes Newcastle United striker Demba Ba.

Ba has been out of form recently, but with Papa Cisse performing well beyond expectations, the Magpies may only be able to keep one of their star forwards. If Ba is able to match his form from the first half of the season, Tottenham would do well to scoop him up.

Jan Vertonghen

5 of 5

According to The Sun, Ajax's star centre-back Jan Vertonghen is looking at Tottenham as a favorite for his long-awaited move to England's Premier League this summer. Ajax can't convince their best player to not move to England, so they'll want to get a deal going as quickly as possible for as much cash as possible.

This could be huge for a Spurs side who is shaky as to who will partner with Younes Kaboul in the center of the defense. Ledley King has, at most, one year left in his knees and although William Gallas has performed well, he's not the long-term answer.
