What We’re Watching For

In what should be an absolute war, veteran tennis legend Roger Federer will take on both tough Czech youngster Tomáš Berdych and the blue clay courts in Madrid. Both the surface and opponent will be big tests for Federer.

With many fans calling for Berdych to be the next potential great tennis star, the perfect start to the run to the top would be right through the heart of the competition. Beating a man as great as Federer would be huge for the young star.

Berdych has been one of the most underrated players in 2012 so far, winning one tournament and competing into the semifinals in two others. If he could sneak out a win over the favored Federer, there is no way the casual fans couldn’t remember him.

Federer on the other hand has three wins already this season and his losses have been absolute wars against the game’s best. Federer is still the favorite in this final, but anyone who likes tennis at all cannot miss this main event.

With both men entering this matchup playing as well as anyone in the world, this has the potential to be one of the greatest finals in tennis history. Fingers crossed!
