Frances Tiafoe Loses Racket While Celebrating with Fans in Trending Roland-Garros Video
Frances Tiafoe lost his racket while he celebrated with fans following his second-round victory over Hubert Hurkacz at Roland-Garros on Thursday.
Tiafoe offered two tickets to his next match in exchange for the return of his racket on his Instagram story before later confirming that it was given back to him.

"I just got it back," Tiafoe told TNT Sports. "So I'm walking off the court and I had all the rackets in my bag and I was like, 'Wait. I think I'm down a racket.' And then Mark said, 'What are you talking about?' I was like, 'I think a fan got my racket.' He's like, 'Are you serious?' I was like, 'Yeah.' He was like, 'You want to make a post?' I was like, 'Yeah, it'll be funny.'"
It's understandable that Tiafoe didn't realize his racket was gone right away, as his clash with Hurkacz was a hard-fought 6-7 (5), 7-6 (7), 6-4, 6-7 (1), 6-4 victory.
The match lasted four hours and 43 minutes.
Tiafoe was ultimately able to secure the win by avoiding mistakes. He recorded two double faults and 32 unforced errors compared to six double faults and 59 unforced errors for Hurkacz.
After falling in the third round of the French Open in 2023 and losing in the second round the following year, Tiafoe advanced to the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros in 2025.
He'll have an opportunity to go on a deeper run this year, especially with top contenders like Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton both suffering defeats on Thursday.
For now, Tiafoe is set to play Jaime Faria in the third round and won't need a new racket before then.
