Florida Football Recruiting 2013: 10 Must-Get Recruits for the Gators
The Florida Gators finished with a top five class in 2012 and currently have a top five - ten class in 2013 recruiting, as it stands right now. UF has netted 15 commitments so far this year and more targets remain.
It's not out of the question for Florida to perhaps finish with the No. 1 class next February. For that to happen, they'll need a couple more high profile prospects to sign with them.
Here are 10 must-get remaining recruits that the Gators need to hustle for.
10. Jaynard Bostwick
1 of 10Bostwick is a Florida native that plays DT at 6'4" and nearly 280 pounds. He'd be a good fit as a DE in the Gator 30 front defense due to his heavy hands, size and strength.
9. Tyrone Crowder, OG
2 of 10Florida took the best OL from North Carolina last cycle in D.J. Humphries, and Crowder could be the top OL in the Tar Heel State for 2013.
He's wide open right now, but he did take a visit to a Gator spring practice earlier this year. A 6'2", 325-pound power blocker, Crowder is an excellent OG prospect that plays with great strength, leverage and a nasty streak.
8. Greg Gilmore, DT
3 of 10Gilmore is a 6'4", 270-pound DT from North Carolina that has great short area quickness. He can play strong side DE in a 4-3 or the three-technique, the latter is where I think he fits best at.
7. Leon McQuay, S
4 of 10Florida is in the top five for the Sunshine State safety prospect, as McQuay recently told Scout.com that Vanderbilt, USC, Stanford and Notre Dame round out the rest of his top five.
A 6'1", 185-pound back end defender, McQuay has great instincts and hands in the deep middle. He can recognize route combinations, not get looked off and make plays in the secondary.
6. Vonn Bell, S
5 of 10Bell has his eye on the Gators, but UF is one of many SEC programs that is on the trail for the versatile DB.
Born in Tennessee and living in Georgia, Bell is a 6'2", 190-pound safety that can also play some corner for you. He reminds me a little of Shaquille Thompson of last year.
Florida will have to really hustle for Bell as he's a hot commodity in SEC recruiting.
5. Elijah Daniel, DE
6 of 10Hailing from Indiana, Daniel is a 6'3", 240-pound DE that I think would stand up as an OLB most of the time in Florida's defense.
The Gators seem to be pretty serious about landing Daniel, as Dan Quinn has gone all the way up to the Hoosier State to visit with the talented DE prospect earlier this spring.
4. Matthew Thomas, OLB
7 of 10The 6'4", 210-pound Thomas is from inside Florida and actually resides within "The State of Miami." Yet he has mentioned Florida as a serious suitor.
It would be a mega-coup for the Gators to pull Thomas out, as he also is getting recruited by Alabama pretty hard too.
To take a player away from Miami is always sweet for Florida, but to also take a player away from your SEC rivals is just icing on the cake. Florida will have to hustle to make it work, though.
3. Stacy Coley, WR
8 of 10Florida is always home to great speed and skill players, and Coley still is a stand out. He's got a high ceiling as a WR and if he can get qualified and into the right program, he could flourish.
A 6'1", 175-pound speedster, Coley can play on the perimeter, the slot and even return kicks and punts for a squad. He likely hasn't realized how far he can go as a player yet.
2. Vernon Hargreaves III, CB
9 of 10The top defensive player in the state and top CB in the nation, Hargreaves has a host of options to choose from.
Yet, Florida is one of the top suitors for his services and a school to watch in this race. His father coaches at South Florida, and the Bulls are hot on his trail.
However, watch out for Florida for Hargreaves.
1. Laremy Tunsil, OT
10 of 10Tunsil has a top five right now that has Florida in it, along with Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma.
He's the No. 1 OL prospect in America and has gotten his 6'6", frame up to weighing almost 295 pounds. I think when it boils down to it, this will be a Florida vs. Georgia race.
With Tunsil being from Lake City, the Gators are the in-state school and have home field advantage. He'd be a big coup to land.
