Jessica Dorrell Resigns from University of Arkansas in Wake of Scandal
Jessica Dorrell has reportedly resigned from her position with the University of Arkansas. The news is less than shocking given the fallout that resulted from the revelation of her relationship with recently dismissed head coach Bobby Petrino.
The Arkansas News Bureau's Robbie Neiswanger reported the news via his Twitter account.
"Arkansas announces Jessica Dorrell has resigned from her position in the athletic department.

As you can probably imagine, this sticky situation was not as simple as Dorrell saying she would quit and just walking away.
Neiswanger also has info on the stipulations connected to her departure.
"Dorrell has agreed "she would not attempt to sell or profit from her affiliation with Razorback Athletics" as part of her resignation.

In other words, Dorrell will not be selling the rights to her story to TV movie execs, nor will she be making paid, public appearances in Razorbacks gear.
Of course, she didn't agree to this for free. Neiswanger tweeted that she got a little parting gift from the University.
"Arkansas also agreed to pay Dorrell "approximately $14,000 as part of a settlement and resolution of all matters between the parties."

This move came less than a week after the Razorbacks announced they would be firing coach Bobby Petrino.
Petrino came under immense heat as the details of his relationship with Dorrell came to light. Petrino did not mention that he had a relationship with Dorrell before she was hired as Student Athlete Development Coordinator.
As details came to light of their involvement, it was reported that the two had exchanged 4,300 text messages and 300 phone calls in seven months, and that Petrino had paid her $20,000.
Arkansas has now severed its connections to both parties in this scandal and appears completely ready to move on.
This is a big setback to the Razorbacks football team. They were a Top 10 squad last season and likely were headed to a Top 10 preseason ranking this year.
That will not be as certain now, as the search commences for a new coach, who will install his own system for a team forced to start over after having just wrapped up spring practices.
