Bobby Petrino: Former Arkansas Coach Will Not Appeal Termination

Adam WellsJun 3, 2018

Bobby Petrino's world is still a mess after the motorcycle accident and the ensuing cover-up involving his relationship with Jessica Dorrell, but he is willing to accept Arkansas' decision to fire him, according to Joe Schad of ESPN.

Bobby Petrino accepts responsibility for actions and result and will not appeal Arkansas' termination with cause

Given the backlash against Petrino right now, getting out of the spotlight would be in his best interest. He needs to figure out what is going to happen with his personal life before doing anything to fix his professional life.

The financial loss that Petrino will suffer as a result of losing his job at Arkansas might have made appealing the firing a desirable option for him. However, it would not have been a smart move given the way he was let go, and it appears as though he figured that out.

Plus, you have to wonder what grounds Petrino might have had to try appealing the fine. Everyone knows he tried to hide the nature of his relationship with Dorrell. He paid her $20,000, and their relationship gave her "an unfair and undisclosed advantage" when she was hired by the school.

Arkansas is trying to clean up the mess that Petrino has made. He needs to start repairing his image if he hopes to find another coaching job, either in college or the NFL.

Athletic director Jeff Long wrote on Twitter that the school has not made a decision on an interim head coach and that all options are still being considered.

"

No decision on Interim Coach, Know current assts well, no need for folks to lobby, have watched for myself. All scenarios still on table thx

The Razorbacks are in desperation mode. Not only do they need to find a new coach, but they have to convince all of Petrino's recruits that Arkansas is still the place for them.
