After getting into a motorcycle accident with a 25-year-old named Jessica Dorrell, fans were originally just concerned with the health of a coach that has led their Razorbacks to 21 wins in the last two seasons.

As more details of the story were released, it became clear that Petrino was having an affair with the woman. Then we found out she had just gotten a big promotion thanks in large part to Petrino. Then we found out Dorrell was engaged to somebody that also worked for the athletic department. The marriage was in two months.

Finally, Petrino was forced to come clean in just the latest example of how much worse a public figure looks when they try and cover up a story. Whether it be a politician, actor or athlete, the cover-up is typically worse than the original crime.

This story is filled with lies, deceit and an overall sense of moral corruption that was too hard to ignore for the Arkansas brass. There is no way Petrino could walk into a recruit's home with an Arkansas hat on and look him in the eye and talk to him about trust and commitments.

Sure, fans love his production on the field—especially on offense—but there is no doubt this guy was going to use his success to either score a massive extension or leapfrog to an even bigger school. We all remember Petrino abandoning the Atlanta Falcons right in the middle of the season to take the Arkansas gig. Who’s to say that wouldn’t happen again?

This man cannot be trusted to make the proper decision for the Arkansas program any longer. He has disgraced the school in a way that could not be forgiven.

Sure the on-field product is going to suffer, but after the events of the past week, Petrino left them only one logical choice.

After guiding Arkansas to a BCS bowl in one of their best seasons ever, it’s Petrino’s actions that will ultimately set the program back for the next year or two.

Meanwhile, Petrino will be sitting at home with a four broken ribs, a scarred face, no mistress and a marriage that has to be repaired…without getting a dime from Arkansas.

Was it all worth it, Bobby?
