Arsenal vs. Manchester City: 3 Bold Predictions for the Gunners

Jesse ReedJun 5, 2018

Arsenal and Manchester City will face off on Sunday at Emirates Stadium in a match that is crucial in determining the landscape of the Premier League.

Manchester City are chasing Manchester United for the title, while Arsenal are desperately trying to get back to third place.

It's a match that is bound to present some exciting play, and here are three bold predictions for what you can expect out of the action on the pitch tomorrow.

Arsenal will Win

Manchester City comes into this match as the favorite, but not by much. They are ahead in the standings, but Arsenal has come on strong as of late.

Even though there isn't a chance for Arsenal to win the championship this year, there is plenty of motivation beyond simple competitive drive for them to want to win this match.

Arsène Wenger recently told Arsenal.com: "A victory for us on Sunday would show us we can reach our basic target, which is to be qualified for the Champions League next year."

Manchester City won't be easy to overcome, as they have some motivation of their own. A loss tomorrow would put them in an eight-point hole to Manchester United, a gap that will be too much to overcome, according to Roberto Mancini, via Arsenal.com

Look for Arsenal to come out with an all-out attack. They won't be looking for the tie, and Wenger will call an aggressive game.

Arsenal will win.

Robin Van Persie will Provide the Firepower in the Victory with Two Goals

Wenger has been campaigning for Van Persie to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

Van Persie will have a chance to prove his coach right in the upcoming match against Man City.

He has already shot 26 goals this season, making him the leader of the Premier League in this category.

I predict he will rise to the occasion as he has all year long to score at least two goals in the victory, further cementing his claim to the award and giving his team the best chance at making the Champions League next season.

Manchester City Won't Score a Single Goal

This is by far the boldest prediction.

So far this season, Man City have scored 2.42 goals per match, while Arsenal have conceded 1.32 goals per match.

If anything, you'd expect Man City to score at least one goal against stats like that, but I have a funny feeling Arsenal are ready to step their game up to an entirely different level tomorrow.

Final score: Arsenal wins 3-0
