Knicks vs Spurs: Grades, Twitter Reaction and Analysis

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

The San Antonio Spurs rebounded nicely from a 99-94 loss to the Nuggets with a resounding 118-105 victory over the New York Knicks

This was a nice win for the Spurs as they are now 3-3 in their last six games after having won 11 straight prior to the that.

This was also a disheartening loss for the Knicks. They have now lost three straight and six of their last nine.

Tweets of the Night

Frank Isola, the Knicks beat writer for the New York Daily News, came away from this game with nothing but positive things to say about the team he does not cover.

"

Knicks are being thoroughly outclassed. Hard not to like the Spurs. They are a professional outfit with high character guys

— Frank Isola (@FisolaNYDN) March 8, 2012"

This fan does a nice job of encapsulating what life is like as a Knicks fan this year.

Grades for Key Knicks Players

Jeremy Lin: C-

Lin did a nice job protecting the rock on Wednesday, but his shot was off all game. He also was completely outclassed by Tony Parker.

He finished with 20 points on 7-15 from the field, but a lot of that came late.

Anthony had a very nice second half, but this game was out of reach by then, and part of that was due to his struggles in the first half.

He finished with 27 points on 12-24 shooting.

Amare Stoudemire: B

Stoudemire was very active. He recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but, like all of his teammates, he struggled from the field early.

Grades for Key Spurs Players

Tony Parker: A

Parker was playing out of his mind. He took the action to the Knicks right away and set the tone for this game. He had 23 points on 9-13 shooting in just the first half.

He ended the game with 32 points on 12-19 shooting and six assists.

Tim Duncan: B+

Duncan was efficient on offense and solid on defense. He didn't do anything spectacular, but everything he needed.

He was 6-11 from the field with 17 points and eight boards.

Manu Ginobli: A

In just his second game back from his most recent injury, Manu was outstanding. His numbers were not mind-boggling, but he was efficient.

He was 7-10 from the field and carded 17 points. In the process, he showed he is going to be a big boost for this team down the stretch.

Stat of the Night: 34

That is the Knicks shooting percentage for the first half, and a big part of the reason why they trailed by 17 going into the locker room. None of the starters shot well in the first half.

Carmelo picked it up in the second, but it was far too late by that point.

Game MVP: Tony Parker

Parker was a level above every player on the court. He put this game out of reach early.

What's Next?

The Knicks will travel to Milwaukee and take on the Bucks on Friday. That will be their fourth and final game in this recent road trip.

The Spurs will stay home to face the Clippers on Friday. That will be their fifth game of a seven-game homestand.
