Michigan Football: Predicting Wolverines Selections in 2012 NFL Draft

Scott SemmlerJun 7, 2018

Thanks to the NFL combine, Michigan football will enjoy some much-need rise in draft stock heading into the 2012 NFL Draft.

Junior Hemingway, Mike Martin and David Molk will all be participating.

Wide receiver Hemingway has already received hype from analysts recently, and seeing him have a good combine may further his climb up NFL draft boards.

Defensive tackle Martin and center Molk will also need to impress during the combine if they are to see their draft stock rise as much as Hemingway's.  Most notably, Martin will need to play off of his Senior Bowl success and have a good combine to further impress NFL scouts.

Junior Hemingway, WR

Hemingway is the wild card for the Wolverines heading into the NFL Scouting Combine and eventual NFL Draft.  However, ESPN's Todd McShay may have helped that cause with some kind words about the wide receiver.

McShay said he is built like a running back with nice bulk, but is able to catch the jump balls in traffic.

Bigger and bulkier wide receivers seem to be the norm these days, and if a team wants to continue that trend, Hemingway is not a bad choice early in the seventh round.

Mike Martin, DT

Martin was the talk of the Senior Bowl practices and would appear to be the Wolverines highest draft pick this year.

Martin is a big and strong player in the trenches and will impress once he hits the weights at the scouting combine.  For that reason, his draft stock is sure to rise possibly all the way up to a late second-round pick.

To be safe, Martin should feel comfortable being selected midway through the third round, when all is said and done.

David Molk, C

Molk, a four-year player, should see that pay off for him during the scouting combine, as he is very composed with a decent amount of burst off the snap.

The knock on him is that he is well-undersized and we should see that may significantly hurt him when the scouts get a real good look at him.  At 6'2" and 288 pounds, teams will take an interest in him because of his speed and competitive play.  However, to NFL teams, that only means so much.

Molk will be drafted in the fifth or sixth round if everything goes according to plan at the scouting combine.
