Knicks Trade Rumors: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Proves NY Has What it Needs
Two weeks ago, every New York Knicks fans' finger was on the panic button.
Everyone wanted to rush to get Baron Davis back in the lineup or fire head coach Mike D'Antoni.
Pressure for some type of move to be made was mounting.
The Knicks have been linked to both Cleveland's Ramon Sessions and Jonny Flynn throughout the past couple of weeks and are also high on the list of teams after J.R. Smith as he prepares to return from China.
However the emergence of Jeremy Lin has allowed the Knicks to step back and take a breath. Nobody's hand is on the panic button any longer.
At least for the time being, New York needs to stand pat and not risky ruining the chemistry they've built throughout the course of the past two weeks.
Lin has turned out to be a blessing in disguise as now they don't need to panic by making an unnecessary move.
Not pursuing Sessions and Flynn now is an easy choice.
Lin is the point guard of the present and possibly the future. He's shown not only the ability to produce, but the ability to lead as well and that's probably his biggest quality.
He also showed the moxy to step up and deliver in the clutch Tuesday night against Toronto with his game-winning shot.
Making a run at Smith is a different issue all together.
He's a guy talented enough to help the Knicks make a run, but he's another guy that needs the ball a great deal of the time. Smith's also a guy known to be disruptive at times and that's where the red flag should come up for the Knicks' front office.
Right now the Knicks have a good thing going and the chemistry with Lin running the offense is getting better by the game.
The Knicks face a potential problem of working Carmelo Anthony back into the lineup and having the same chemistry and success that the current group on the floor has had.
But with Anthony back in the lineup, New York has the talent to win.
That's why the Knicks need to pass on any possible moves right now. There's still a month before the trade deadline approaches and the team can revisit potential moves then.
Establishing chemistry is the biggest priority right now, not adding to the roster.
Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.
This is one of those times.
