Norwich City FC: Top 10 Fan Chants for the Canaries at Carrow Road

James KentJun 7, 2018

Norwich City fans love to get behind their team.

The last two home games in particular have been electric. In this slideshow, I will offer a brief description of the chant and the name.

There is a lot of different options, but I will focus on some of the more recent chants.

For a full list of Norwich City chants, click here.

"On the Ball, City!"

1 of 10

This chant is typically sung before games kick off and routinely throughout the match. Many people believe this to be the oldest football chant, dating back from a time before the club was founded in 1902. The song was thought to be used by previous Norfolk football teams.

It is thought that the chant has been shortened from a longer version. Today, the first verse is no longer sang.

"Come On, You YELLOWS!"

2 of 10

This another chant that has been used for many years and is typically sung when the home wins a corner. The fans are sensing a goal-scoring opportunity for the resulting set-piece.

It's not hard to remember, because it is quite simply "Come on, you YELLOWS!"

"Oh, When the GREENS!"

3 of 10

This can be a fun chant that involves a different part of the ground. The song is to the tune of "When The Saints Go Marching In."

Typically, someone from the back will shout "Oh, when the Greens" while the people in the front shout "go marching in."

It continues like this and is spread around the ground. Quite often the chant will be sung for a long time.

"E-I-E-I-E-I-O. Up the Football League We Go!"

4 of 10

This song has been sung a lot in the last few seasons in League One and the Championship. However, it does not work so well with the club in the Premier League compared to the Football League.

But the Football League bit could always be changed to Premier League. It's a good chant that gets everyone going, especially when the team has a lead.

"You Must've Come in a Taxi!"

5 of 10

This one does not work so well in the Premier League, because away teams generally have a big away following. The chant is really a special for League One, where teams often only bring a handful of fans with them for away games.

The song is directed towards the away supporters to suggest that they could have all come in one taxi.

"Yellows!"

6 of 10

This chant is simple and only has one word. The concept is to simply and purely give the team a lift.

This is another one that can radiate around the ground and go on for some time.

With the team playing in yellow, it is unmistakably a Norwich City chant.

"Russell Martin, the Norfolk Cafu!"

7 of 10

Russell Martin is a popular figure in Norfolk and this chant is designed to be a huge compliment, but also a little bit toungue-in-cheek.

Either way, the right-back will be delighted with any comparisons to the Brazilian great

The chant (in full) can be found here.

"There's Only One Paul Lambert!"

8 of 10

This chant is incredibly popular at the moment due to the quite amazing job Paul Lambert has done in managing the club. In truth, there may be many men that share his name, but in managerial terms he is a truly unique talent.

The song is usually sung towards the end of the games with the home side winning. It is also very often reappears at the end of the match, when Lambert is clapping the fans.

"We Are Norwich City and We Will Sing on Our Own!"

9 of 10

This is a very popular chant at the moment, and it usually occurs when the Norwich fans are quite loud—with the away fans particularly quiet.

There are many chants on a similar theme, but this one is very enjoyable.

The atmosphere at Carrow Road has been superb recently.

We Are Norwich City and We Will Sing on Our Own

10 of 10

This is another chant that has become very popular recently, mainly because of the spirit at the club, and, of course the fact that the team has scored so many late goals.

This was mainly the case in the Championship, but it certainly applies to the Premier League as well.
