Senior Bowl 2012: Kellen More and College Stars with Most to Gain

Nicholas GossJan 28, 2012

Kellen Moore, the Boise State quarterback, is one of several college stars who need a fantastic Senior Bowl performance to really help their NFL Draft stock as the scouting combine approaches.

The senior bowl is the last chance for many players to show scouts how they can perform against elite competition, so having a great game would be ideal for several stars whose performances in this game means being a first-round pick or a fourth-round pick.

Let's look at three players who have the most to gain at the Senior Bowl.

Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

Mike Adams of the Ohio State Buckeyes is one of the best left tackle prospects in this year's draft class, and with a solid Senior Bowl performance he could cement himself as a first-round pick in April.

Scouts know his pass-blocking abilities are tremendous, but his run-blocking skills need to improve before he can become a pro bowl caliber player at the next level.

Adams needs to impress at the Senior Bowl if he wants to be a first-round pick, and with all his talent, there's no question he can dominate Saturday and improve his draft stock.

Chris Polk, RB, Washington

Chris Polk has a ton of talent and is built like an NFL running back. Many teams would consider taking him to fill a need in the backfield during the mid to late first round.

While Polk is a tremendous rusher, he needs to improve his pass protection ability. In today's NFL you must be able to protect your quarterback and pick up blitzes to get playing time.

If Polk runs the ball very well at the Senior Bowl and shows good pass protection skills, his draft stock will improve mightily.

Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State

One thing Kellen Moore did not impress the scouts with this week at the Senior Bowl practices was his passing accuracy.

For someone that does not have ideal size and arm strength for a quarterback, Moore must prove in the Senior Bowl he can consistently be accurate at all distances, especially beyond 20 yards.

Moore's Senior Bowl performance could mean the difference between being drafted in the fifth round or later, and not drafted at all.

He has a lot to gain regarding his draft stock at the Senior Bowl on Saturday.
