Miami, Auburn and More Sending Head Coaches to Meet with Avery Young Before NSD
At this point in the recruiting process, with just a few days left until National Signing Day on Feb. 1, this is a critical time for schools to reach out to some of the top-rated uncommitted prospects before the mandatory dead period takes effect after this weekend.
One of the recruits that coaches like Florida’s Will Muschamp and Miami’s Al Golden have zeroed in on in recent days is highly-touted offensive tackle prospect Avery Young, who hails from Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.
Young is rated as one of the top tackle prospects in the country by every major recruiting service, and he would be a huge last-second pickup for whatever school is able to get him to sign a letter of intent.
The 6’5’’, 290-pound lineman is still raw, but he has the type of size, athleticism and power to develop into a future star offensive tackle if he’s coached up properly, and he’s the type of recruit who has all of the elite physical traits you look for in a blue-chip prospect.
Young has reportedly narrowed his choices down to five schools—Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Miami, although he has yet to reveal if he’s leaning towards one school.
Young has taken trips to see all five schools, and he’s met with coaches and assistants from all five in recent months.
After meeting with coaches from Auburn, Florida and Miami over the past few days, the big tackle is now set to announce his decision on National Signing Day.
Former Palm Beach Gardens teammate Alex Clark is on the record predicting that Young will end up with the Bulldogs, but remember, coaches like Muschamp, Golden and Auburn assistant Trooper Taylor, one of the top recruiters in the country, can all be very persuasive, so it should be interesting to see what his final decision will ultimately be.
