LeBron James Idolizing Kobe Bryant Another Sign He Will Never Be the GOAT
LeBron James does not have the mental makeup to be the greatest player of all time.
While there is no doubting the dude has the physical talent, but he lacks the competitive drive and the killer attitude that goes with it.
This is not a new notion. LeKing has faced this criticism before, which makes it a little surprising that he would fuel this fire.
LeBron and his Heat recently beat the Lakers and after the game, James offered this tasty nugget up to TNT's courtside reporter Craig Sager.
While this is a harmless quote, and essentially meaningless when taken on its own, it highlights LeBron's mindset.
By the time players like Bryant, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson or Larry Bird were in high school they weren't idolizing anyone. They were too busy destroying opponents and making themselves better.
At that point in their development, it is more likely that they were too busy idolizing themselves than they were others.
That is the kind of sentiment that pushes players to new heights. It is what keeps players striving to get better and what leads to them never letting up on the court. They are convinced they are the best, and they want to prove it every second of every game.
This leads to those players being able to perform in the clutch, and driving the nail in the coffin of opposing teams.
This is what LeBron doesn't have.
At some level, LeBron does not believe he is the greatest player ever. This lack of confidence leads to his erratic fourth quarter performances in big moments, and it will keep him from ever being considered the GOAT.
