4 Reasons 5-Star DT Eddie Goldman Won't Be Able to Turn Alabama Down
It's all about recruiting now that the college football season is over with. The BCS National Championship is over, so now, teams are preparing to better their future.
One of the top prospects that is still out there is defensive tackle Eddie Goldman. He's 6'4", 315 pounds and would be the ultimate run stopper for any defensive line. He has great athleticism for his size, quick hands and absolutely bullies offensive linemen.
While it seems like every school is still in the running because he's keeping everything close to the vest, there may be one school he's interested in more than others.
Here are a few reasons why Goldman will join forces with Alabama when it's all said and done.
Alabama Has His Trust Already
1 of 4With the way college football is nowadays, there are very few people these players can trust. It happens so many times where a player turns to somebody and that person often ends up stabbing them in the back or letting them down. With Eddie Goldman, Alabama has already earned his trust.
"Coach Sal is a cool dude, Goldman said of Alabama assistant coach Sal Sunseri, who is also the Tide's linebacker coach. As far as recruiting, I can talk to him about anything, and he's going to be real with me. He isn't going to lie to me. That's one of the main reasons I like Alabama.
"
That trust will go a long way when Goldman ends up making his decision.
Chance to Start Right Away
2 of 4Although Alabama just won a national championship, they have lost quite a few players already. While none of those players play the same position Goldman will play, it does open doors for him to get on the field a lot quicker. That, of course, is extremely important to a top recruit like Goldman.
"They were just reiterating why I should come there and basically what they have to offer, Goldman said. A lot of people say Alabama is stacked, and they were telling me that they're not. They have a lot of people leaving, so they were just talking to me about that.
"
Being able to play quite a bit his freshman season will make his decision that much easier.
NFL Draft Stock
3 of 4When you join the SEC and dominate your position in that conference, you are instantly a top pick in the NFL draft. It's really that simple. The SEC produces some of the best talent, and you look a lot more impressive when you're going up against some of the best competition every single week.
"And, I'm not saying that other schools don't produce NFL players, but they have had the most first-round picks the last three years.
"
But what (Dareus) did in Alabama's system, that's what I'm going to be doing. Some plays they had him standing up, some plays they had him at the nose and some plays they had him at the end. I like that versatility. It kind of raises your stock.
Goldman obviously cares about where he gets drafted, so his best case would be to join Alabama.
Best Chance to Win
4 of 4Playing time and winning are probably two of the top things recruits look for. We've already talked about playing time; now it's time to focus on winning games.
There's no question Alabama is always one of those teams in the national championship conversation. They have arguably the best active head coach and one of the most talented teams in the country. They will always be contenders regardless of who leaves their program.
Goldman is also looking at programs such as Auburn, Florida State, Miami, California and Clemson, among others. While all of those schools are great and have a lot to offer, none of them are in the position to win right away like Alabama is.
The Crimson Tide is the team Eddie Goldman should make his commitment to.
