National Signing Day 2012: 7 Blue-Chip Recruits That Won't Commit Until NSD

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

I've got a couple big-time, high profile recruits that I think will likely wait to NSD 2012 to announce.

They could choose to commit before hand, but the first Wednesday in February is likely when they'll announce

Announcing on National Signing Day is getting bigger and bigger every February. You have some recruits who just walk in, sign their LOI's and go back to class while others wait until this day to choose their college.

Josh Garnett, OL

1 of 7

Josh Garnett is the top OG prospect in the country. Washington, Nebraska, Miami, Oregon, USC and Notre Dame have all been mentioned, among many more.

However, it looks like the final three are Stanford, Michigan and Notre Dame. His father has the makings of a Wolverine fan, so watch out...on NSD that is.

Kwon Alexander, OLB

2 of 7

Alexander has a top four of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and LSU. He's in the middle of taking trips to each school and feeling everyone out.

Don't expect him to know who he's feeling the most until signing day, however. I say Auburn, but you never until that LOI is faxed in.

Eddie Goldman, DT

3 of 7

Florida State, Alabama, Cal, Auburn, Maryland, Clemson and Miami are the top seven schools for perhaps the nation's best DT prospect.

Almost everyone around him (and the consensus in the recruiting industry) makes it seem like his recruitment won't end until NSD.

Tracy Howard, CB

4 of 7

At 6'0", 175 pounds, Tracy Howard has the length that many teams are looking for in corners these days. Receivers are getting bigger, so corners need to as well.

It appeared Florida and Miami were the main two, but Howard says he is still getting recruited hard by Florida State, USC, LSU, UCLA, Alabama, Notre Dame and West Virginia.

He likely will wait to NSD announce. Look at for the Noles and Gators.

Avery Young, OT

5 of 7

Young is a 6'6", 275-pound OT prospect who could play the LT position in college. He's very athletic, long and flashes some strength.

Auburn leads Alabama, Georgia and Florida right now. We'll know who wins on NSD.

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR

6 of 7

Green-Beckham isn't committing any time soon. He's really going to take this thing slow and get a feel for all of his final schools.

Couple that with the fact that his spotlight will get hotter when recruiting comes back into focus in January (i.e., the pressure will mount), and DGB will likely need more time to think. Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and Arkansas are all running.

Stefon Diggs, WR

7 of 7

Diggs lists a top 11 that has Auburn, Florida, Maryland, Miami, Cal and Virginia Tech in it, among others. He seems to be having fun with the process and has been pretty sly about naming a leader.

He's tripped to Cal already and will head to Auburn soon. Florida could get a visit, but losing Charlie Weis has hurt their chances.

Diggs won't make a decision until after NSD.
