Trent Richardson, Alabama Will Roll over Offensively-Challenged LSU Tigers
The BCS National Championship Game is almost upon us, and the stage is set for arguably the most enticing bowl game of them all.
Yet, in a game where the No. 1 LSU Tigers come in as favorites, it will be the nation's No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide that will have the last word in this title game—they will ultimately get the best of the their SEC rival Tigers, and will be national champions when it's all said and done.
The big factor in this contest will be the jaw-dropping play of running back Trent Richardson.
Coming into the contest, it seems as if Richardson has been on a mission to prove that he was robbed of a Heisman Trophy in 2011. This season, Richardson has recorded 1,583 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
His last three games that have easily been the most productive stretch he has put together this entire season.
In those last three games, Richardson has posted 505 yards rushing yards—including 203 against Auburn—and five total touchdowns. He has averaged 4.0, 5.5 and 7.5 yards per carry in the those three contests, respectively.
Talk about a force to deal with for this Tigers' defense.
Meanwhile, the evident advantage for the Crimson Tide also becomes apparent in the fact that the Tigers can't match the type of offense that Alabama is capable of.
When the LSU has the ball, they don't have a weapon comparable to the one in Alabama's backfield.
The Tigers come into this contest ranked No. 105 in the passing game and No. 17 running the football, while the Crimson Tide boast the No. 71 passing offense and No. 14 running game.
The significant difference in the run game is the fact that Richardson is a talent that is as explosive as there is, although the Tigers feature two solid backs in Michael Ford and Spencer Ware.
Alabama is the more talented, productive team offensively and well aware of the fact they held the upper hand in the first contest.
Expect Richardson to help this team come on top when it's all said and done.
The Crimson Tide running back will be the key to an Alabama national championship in 2012.
