BCS National Championship 2012: Rematch Will Prove BCS System Got It Right

Alabama and LSU are the two best teams in the country. They proved it during the regular season and bowl season has done nothing but prove it even more.

I don’t agree with the BCS system, but it did a great job of picking the right teams for the gig. Alabama and LSU will prove why the BCS made the right choice on Monday night in the BCS National Championship Game.

It was laughable watching the BCS bowl games and their lack of defense. It was absolutely pathetic. Shootouts are fun to watch, but it gets old watching lousy defenses against quality offenses. Washington, Baylor, Wisconsin, Oregon, Clemson, Oklahoma State and Stanford all were torched defensively.

At least we know that defense does win championships because Alabama is No. 1 overall, allowing less than nine points per game, and LSU is No. 2, allowing slightly over 10.  

Both teams have first-round NFL talent up and down their roster. Both teams have defeated every opponent by more than 10 points (other than LSU’s 9-6 victory over Alabama).

LSU defeated Arkansas, Oregon, Alabama, Georgia and West Virginia. Alabama didn’t defeat the quantity of teams that LSU did, but they did handle Arkansas easily and lost to LSU in overtime by three points.

If LSU can defeat the Ducks, Razorbacks, Bulldogs and Mountaineers by double figures then Alabama is easily the second-best team in college football. They should have defeated the Tigers if not for multiple missed field goals and rally-killing turnovers.

These teams are easily the best two best in the country.

This will be another close score that will be tightly played. Both offenses will find their share of struggles and the defenses will shine bright.

Defense wins championships and whoever plays the best defense will be on top of the mountain in college football.

Prediction: LSU 13, Alabama 10
