With a spot in the SEC Championship Game on the line, No. 3 Texas secured a hard-fought 17-7 win over No. 20 Texas A&M on Saturday night.

The Longhorns were held scoreless in the second half after a hot start, but they were still able to emerge victorious due to an impressive defensive performance.

Texas allowed just 248 total yards while the Aggies' lone touchdown was a pick six in the second half. Texas A&M nearly found the end zone again in the fourth quarter, but the Longhorns forced a turnover on downs with a goal-line stand.

Quinn Ewers dealt with some inconsistency, finishing 17-of-28 for 218 yards and a touchdown as well as the aforementioned interception that was returned for a score. He also fumbled the ball in the Aggies' red zone near the end of the third quarter.

Still, head coach Steve Sarkisian's team earned a fifth straight win and will face No. 7 Georgia in the SEC title game.

Fans praised the achievement.

Sophomore running back Quintrevion Wisner buoyed the Longhorns' rushing attack, picking up 186 yards on 33 carries. Backup quarterback Arch Manning also saw limited playing time, rushing for 14 yards and a touchdown.

The stage is now set for a rematch between Georgia and Texas, with the Bulldogs winning the first matchup by the final score of 30-15 on Oct. 19.

The SEC title clash is on Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. ET.
